As a person who has been working on the set of Marvel’s latest film, I am in a very unique position. While I will not be able to disclose the title of the film, I can tell you it is star-studded and is going to be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest films yet.
In recent months, there have been a lot of talk by the media about who would play the role of Black Widow. As someone who was in the room when they were auditioning actresses for the role, I just couldn’t sit back and let these actresses’ names fall into obscurity as Scarlett Johansson was casted as Black Widow.
The following list consists of actresses that were almost casted into this iconic role and how close they were to taking it:
1) Angela Sarafyan – She was one of the first actresses to audition for their roles. She was able to deliver a great performance in her screen test with one of our male leads but her audition wasn’t quite as good as we hoped it would be. Still, she was one of our top choices after we saw her perform.
2) Emily Blunt – We all loved Emily Blunt and thought she would have been perfect for this role but she ended up turning

Natasha Romanoff is a former spy and assassin who made her debut in Iron Man 2. She later joined S.H.I.E.L.D., and the Avengers. She has been portrayed by Scarlett Johansson since 2010.
In an interview with Lou Manfredini, Johansson discussed how she got the part of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow: “I actually auditioned for Iron Man 2 at first, and then I got a call from my agent saying that they wanted me to test for Black Widow.”

Today we’ll be looking at Scarlett Johansson’s career leading up to the role of Black Widow. Her first film appearance was in North (1994). She was only 9 years old and had no lines. But she worked her way up to roles with actual substance when she was cast in Manny & Lo (1996) as a young pregnant girl named Amanda. It wasn’t much, but it gave her something to talk about when she auditioned for roles that needed a young mother.
She continued to get small parts here and there until she landed the lead in Ghost World (2001). She plays Rebecca, a bored high school student who gets a job as a waitress and eventually becomes friends with an elderly customer named Seymour (Steve Buscemi). The film got great reviews and she won best actress at the Zurich Film Festival.
Now, we all know that Scarlett Johansson was cast as Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2 (2010), and went on to star in other Marvel movies like Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014
Wonder Woman was a box office hit. It was an origin story of how a woman becomes the super hero we all know and love. Thatβs why itβs time for Marvel to do the same with Black Widow! Here are some actresses that were almost casted as our favorite red-headed Russian spy:

There are not many roles in Hollywood that are more coveted than the role of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since Scarlett Johansson was casted into the role, there have been countless other actresses who have tried to get casted as her. However, this is a difficult role to get right, and many actresses have failed to do so. Here are some of the ones who almost made it.

When Scarlett Johansson got casted into the role of Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow in 2010’s Iron Man 2, she was already a household name from movies like The Prestige and Lost in Translation. But no one knew if she would be able to pull off such an iconic role as Black Widow. In fact, casting agent Chris Evans has said that he had no idea that she would get selected for the role until it happened.
“I looked at her resume and thought ‘Wow, this girl has done a lot.’ But I had no idea that she would get selected for the role until it happened.” He went on to say “It was a long road for her to get there.”
