How to Get Into Acting: A blog around how to get into the acting industry.

Here’s some things you can do if you’re looking for an agent, or just interested in the process of getting cast in things.

There’s a whole bunch of ways to get yourself out there, and it can be pretty overwhelming (not to mention expensive!) so I wanted to break down the big categories and make it a little easier.

Getting into the acting industry can be a difficult thing to do. There are many stages and hurdles that need to be overcome in order to get anywhere close to making it. I am no expert but I have been on the journey for a few years now and I would like to share some of my experiences and advice with you.

The first step is the hardest, because it’s not a step at all. It’s more of a leap. It’s the decision that you want to become an actor and you want it enough to risk everything in order to achieve your goal. What do I mean by risk everything? Well, it depends what you have to give up, if anything. But for me, it was my job – which I had worked hard for over 10 years – my friends, family and everything else that made up my life as I knew it. Was it worth it? That question will only be answered when (or if) I make it as an actor. At the time though, I thought so, because there was nothing else I could think of doing with my life that would make me happier than acting or fulfil me any more than being an actor can. So for me, that was a pretty easy decision!

If you’ve made the leap then welcome

Hello and welcome to Split Actor. My name is Paul and I am a professional actor and writer. If you are reading this then you probably are looking for some help in becoming an actor. You might be just starting out on your quest or you might have been acting for years but need some guidance in taking things to the next level. Either way, my aim through this site is to offer advice, tips and inspiration on how to get into acting and how to launch a successful career.

I hope that the site will act as a resource for those looking for some direction or even just a place where they can find out more about how to get into acting. Perhaps you want to know what kind of training is necessary? Or maybe you feel like you’ve reached a crossroads in your career and need someone to talk it over with? Who knows… perhaps there’s something that can help you right now?

Step 1: Getting Started

The first step to getting started in the acting industry is to get an agent. The only way you will be able to find work in the acting world is through an agent. Agents have the relationships with casting directors and will know what auditions are going on around town.

Finding an agent can be a bit of a challenge, but there are a few ways to find out which ones might be a good fit for you. The first thing you want to do is see what kind of credits they have under their belt. You want to make sure that they are people who have worked on projects that you would like to work on.

You also want to make sure that they have a lot of experience working with actors who are similar in age/type as you are. If they’re used to working with younger actors and you’re 35, it might not be the best fit.

Step 2: Finding Work Once You Have An Agent

Once you have an agent, your job is not done! Your agent will send out your headshot and resume (called a “breakdown” in the industry) whenever auditions come up that they think would be a good fit for you. What happens then? Well, there are two scenarios:

You

Whether you are an actor, a singer or a dancer, the entertainment industry can be a tough one to crack.

To make it as an actor, you will need to develop confidence in your ability and be prepared for self-promotion. Remember that the acting profession is competitive and there are many routes into acting.

You’ll also need to decide whether you want to become a professional or amateur actor. Professional actors get paid for their work and may have agents, while amateur actors may perform for free and may not have agents.

Whatever choice you make, there are lots of training opportunities available to help you on your way.

Getting an agent as an actor can be a real challenge and it is not always easy to find the right one that is going to get you in the door. If you’re looking to get into acting, there are many things that you need to consider and having the right agent can make all of the difference in the world.

The first thing that you have to do when trying to find an agent is network. You need to go out and meet people and talk with them about what they do for a living. You also need to make sure that you’re networking with other actors as well. The more people you know and the more people you know who work in the business, the better off you’re going to be.

Another important thing that you should think about when trying to get into acting is getting your face out there. It doesn’t matter how good your voice is or how great your look is if no one knows who you are or what you’re about. So, think about this when finding an agent and try and make sure that they know who you are and what you’re all about before they start talking with you about getting any jobs at all.

If none of these things work out for you
