About CuteAct

What is CuteAct?

CuteAct is a small, independent website built around six free calculators for actors, plus a museum covering the history and technique of acting and theatre. It is not a talent agency, a casting platform, a union, or a school. It is a set of tools and reference material, paid for by the ads you see on the page.

Who is it for?

Anyone working through the practical side of an acting career: someone weighing classes and headshots against an irregular income, someone who wants to know if their callback-to-audition ratio is reasonable, someone deciding what to charge for a day of work, or someone checking whether a monologue fits inside a two-minute audition slot.

What tools are actually here?

Six calculators, each aimed at one recurring, concrete question:

How do the tools work?

Each one takes the numbers you type in — income, costs, counts of auditions or tapes, a word count — and runs them through a plain arithmetic formula: dividing a fixed cost across the uses you get from it, converting counts into rates and ratios, scaling a target income into a rate, or converting a word count into speaking time. There is no hidden model or account behind any of it; refresh the page and you start from zero.

Where do the numbers and methods come from?

The formulas follow arithmetic and conventions common to freelance and gig-economy budgeting — amortizing a cost over its uses, converting a target income into a rate, computing a ratio from raw counts — not a single official industry source. None of the tools pull from a database of real actor earnings, agency rates, or booking data; every number in a result comes from what you entered.

Are the results professional advice?

No. They are planning estimates based on the figures you supply, not financial, legal, or career-guarantee advice, and CuteAct is not affiliated with any agent, union, casting platform, or accounting body. For real decisions about contracts, day rates, or your finances, talk to an actual agent, accountant, or entertainment attorney.

Is it free?

Yes. All six tools are free, with no account, login, or paywall. The site runs on advertising, which is why you’ll see ads alongside the tools and articles.

What’s in the Acting & Theatre museum?

The Acting & Theatre Museumis a set of galleries on the craft of performance — acting methods including Stanislavski, Strasberg, and Meisner, the great stages from ancient Greece to Broadway, and the dramatic forms from tragedy to commedia dell’arte. Every entry, image, and fact in it is drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, not written in-house.

Is CuteAct affiliated with any of the methods, unions, or platforms it mentions?

No. Names like Stanislavski, Strasberg, and Meisner refer to acting methods discussed for reference, and CuteAct has no affiliation with those estates, with SAG-AFTRA or any other union, with casting platforms, or with acting schools. It’s an independent site describing and calculating around a craft it doesn’t govern.

Is there anything else on the site?

Yes — the blog and learn sections carry articles and guides on auditions, technique, and the business side of acting, alongside the six tools above.
