Voice Acting is the New Opportunity: A blog about opportunities in voice acting.
Voice acting is the art of providing voices for animated characters (in cartoons, video games, puppet shows, radio, audio books, amusement rides, computer programs, etc.) and radio & television commercials. Voice acting is also done for small handheld audio games. Performers are called voice actors/actresses, voice artists or voice talent. Their roles may also involve singing, although a second separate voice actor may be cast as the character’s singing voice. Voice acting is recognized in Britain as a specialized dramatic profession, primarily owing to the BBC’s long tradition of radio drama production.
Voice artists are also used to record the individual sample fragments played back by a computer in an automated announcement system; for example telephone bell signals or dialing tones. At its simplest, each recording consists of one particular fragment of speech, such as a date of birth or a bank account number read out for the purpose of identity verification when conducting telephone banking over the phone. More complex systems implement natural language dialogs, wherein the user asks questions or makes requests by speaking into their telephone and thereby navigates through menus via speech recognition technology until they have reached the appropriate menu option to execute a transaction and provide information.
I know it’s not easy and I want to help. So my intention with this blog is to highlight opportunities in voice acting.
I am a voice actor and I have more work than I can handle, but I want you to know, you don’t need to be a professional voice actor to get started. At least not at first. You can start out working for free just to get some experience, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a waste of time.
The important thing is to find the right opportunities. If you are willing to work for free, there are many opportunities out there for you. You just need to find the ones that are worth your time.
I have been a voice actor for the past five years. It’s an amazing job, but it can be hard to get started. I’ve had great success with classes at Voice Acting Classes in San Francisco and New York City. These classes will teach you all the basics of voice acting and prepare you for a career as a professional voice actor.
The Voice Acting Classes are taught by professional voice actors who have over 20 years of experience. You’ll learn about how to find jobs and audition, as well as how to create your own demo reel. You’ll also learn about acting technique, including how to use your voice to create characters and convey emotions.
