Bellatrix Lestrange is a fictional character in J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter series. She is portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter in the film adaptations of Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and both parts of Deathly Hallows. She was also portrayed by Bella Ramsey in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play.
Helena Bonham Carter (born 26 May 1966) is an English actress who has appeared in some of the most successful films of her time. Known for her versatility as an actress, she is particularly acclaimed for her roles in independent films and large-scale blockbusters.
Bonham Carter made her acting debut in a television film, A Pattern of Roses (1983). Her first film role was Lady Jane Grey in Lady Jane (1986), followed by roles in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988). Today is Black Friday here in the United States and I thought it would be fun to take a look back at what happened on this day 10 years ago.
It was November 26, 2004, when Harry Potter fans learned that Helena Bonham Carter would be playing the role of Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. And it was around the same time that we also heard that Helen McCrory had been cast as Narcissa Malfoy.
And while many probably weren’t familiar with these actresses at the time, you may now know that these two talented women are actually sisters-in-law!
Helena Bonham Carter is married to actor Tim Burton and her sister-in-law Helen McCrory has been married to Damian Lewis since 2007.

Two sisters who played sisters in the Harry Potter movies were arrested today. One of them tried to rob a bank, and the other one tried to help her do it.
Here’s your complete rundown of today’s real life drama in the world of Potter…
Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) was arrested for attempting to rob a bank with her sister, Narcissa Malfoy (played by Helen McCrory). It seems that the two sisters were in need of some quick cash. They needed a large sum of money to make bail after they were arrested for shoplifting at Harrods. So they decided to use their wands to pull off a robbery. Unfortunately, their spell didn’t work right and they ended up getting caught by the police.**
The sisters’ roles in the Harry Potter films could not have been more different. Helen McCrory played Narcissa Malfoy — a villainess who was a loyal follower and mother of Draco Malfoy, one of Harry Potter’s antagonists. Bellatrix Lestrange (played by Helena Bonham Carter) was a dark witch and cousin of Narcissa Malfoy.
The real life sisters, however, had very different fates on this Black Friday. While actress Helen McCrory had a busy day on Twitter promoting the last film in the series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” (which was released on DVD today), her sister Francesca Annis found herself embroiled in a real life drama where she plays the victim. Her husband Ralph Fiennes has left her for another woman – his former co-star Alex Kingston.

The site is dedicated to two real-life sisters who both played members of the Black family in the Harry Potter films. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Bellatrix Lestrange was played by Helen McCrory and Narcissa Malfoy was played by Helen’s sister, Scarlett Byrne.
The site will have news about both actresses as well as a variety of photos from their careers. The site also has a forum for fans to discuss the two actresses or anything else they want to talk about.

The sisters Bellatrix and Narcissa are both from the Black family and were also both in the Harry Potter movies. They weren’t even sisters in real life, but they were both very much in character for the part of Bellatrix Lestrange.
Bellatrix was an evil witch who loved to torture her victims. Her main enemy was Lord Voldemort and she would do anything to kill him, including killing herself. She had no family to speak of and lived alone in a small house by the river where she kept her black cat, Sirius Black.
Narcissa had two children: one boy and one girl, who were both named after their mother. The boy was named Sirius, while the girl was named Narcissa Malfoy. Narcissa also had a sister called Andromeda who lived with her husband Regulus Black and their son Draco Malfoy. This is where it gets interesting!
Two real life sisters, Helen McCrory and Kate McCrory are both talented actresses. They both have their own special effects on the Harry Potter movie series.
One played Bellatrix Lestrange, who had a great love for Voldemort. The other played Narcissa Malfoy, who had a great love for her family. So when the time came to choose sides in the last movie, it was between a love for Voldemort or a love for her family and she chose her family.
One sister chooses to be evil and play the part of someone that is evil in real life, Bellatrix Lestrange. The other sister chooses not to play into evil and plays the part of Narcissa Malfoy, who does not want to be evil. She is not a dark witch but rather is loyal to her husband and son in hopes that they will survive.
Bellatrix Lestrange chooses evil so that she can be loved by Lord Voldemort and serve him willingly. Narcissa Malfoy chooses good so that she can keep her family together. She uses an Unbreakable Vow with Snape to protect Draco in return for his protection of Harry Potter.
