Jim Halpert’s Hair: A Timeline

Jim Halpert’s Hair: A Timeline

June 6, 2013

Jim Halpert is the male lead character in the television show The Office. He is known for his witty one liners and more importantly his hairstyle. Jim’s hair has been the model of many hipster men around the country, but it wasn’t always that way. Here is a timeline of Jim Halpert’s hair throughout the nine seasons of The Office.

Season 1-3: “The Brown Years”

Season 1 (Episodes 1-22)

Hair is a good way to remember the moments of your life. In the past, when I’ve gotten my hair cut, I’ve asked for my hair dresser to chop it off in a certain style. A couple years later, at another salon, when I look at pictures of myself from that time period, I can say “Oh yeah, that’s when I got my hair cut into a bob!” It’s like a high school yearbook photo—a reminder that you once were there and you accomplished something.

For as long as I can remember, Jim Halpert has been one of my favorite fictional characters. The first time I watched The Office was before college started when I was living in California. I was about sixteen or seventeen and would watch an episode or two every night before bed. During the first few seasons, Jim and Pam were just friends; they had crushes on each other but never acted on them (at least not within the space of an episode). As time went on and the seasons progressed, so did their relationship. First it was a crush, then best friends, then dating, then engaged, then married with one baby and pregnant with another.

This timeline is about Jim

Jim Halpert’s hair has been a topic of conversation among fans of The Office since the show first aired in 2005.

Jim Halpert’s hair is like a fine wine, it’s gotten better with age. We are here to reflect on the glorious locks that John Krasinski has been blessed with.

Here is an episode-by-episode breakdown of Jim’s hair throughout the 9 seasons of The Office.

In the beginning, Jim Halpert’s hair was dark and simple. We could tell a lot about Jim from his straight, brown locks.

Jim was confident in both his hair and himself. There were no surprises in Jim’s hair. It was just one solid layer of slightly longer than average length. It was obvious that Jim had a somewhat good relationship with shampoo.

Jim’s hair was pretty normal, but it went through some changes throughout the first season. It slowly got darker and darker until it became almost black, with a hint of brown at the tips.

We can see that this darker hair is indicative of his rough patch with Pam at the end of season 1. His hair is still straight, but it has become shorter in an attempt to cut himself off from any sort of romantic feelings he may have been experiencing for Pam at this time period.

After he proposes to Pam, we see a return to the simpler times when Jim had only one layer of easy-to-manage hair. However, there is something different about this season 2 version of Jim’s hair than there was in season 1: it is slightly more curly and a bit less manageable than before.

This change in Jim’s hairstyle

Jim’s hair has evolved over the past nine seasons of The Office, and it’s been a joy to watch. Here is a detailed timeline documenting that evolution.

Season 1

Jim is still getting used to his new job in Stamford. His hair is short, but not too short. It’s just long enough to be combed in such a way as to cover forever his bald spot.

Season 2

Jim’s hair is still pretty tame at this point in season two, but he does let it grow out (for about five seconds). He quickly brushes it back into place, however.
