The Usborne experience is all about books. Since the first title was published back in 1973, we’ve been dedicated to the idea that no book is too good for a child. We pride ourselves on creating beautiful books that children will treasure and adults will remember fondly from their own childhood.

We believe passionately in the quality of the books we publish and the unique role they play in a child’s development. Our mission is to make it as easy as possible for everyone to read more and read better, whether it’s through our entertaining and educational titles or our award-winning digital products.

Usborne Books is the longest running and most prolific publisher of children’s books in the UK. It has been running for over 30 years and publishes several hundred books every year.

A major factor in Usborne’s success is its direct sales force. At any one time there are over 6,000 people who are either actively selling or have sold Usborne books in the past. Each part-time sales consultant, as they are known, is contracted to sell a minimum of £200 in books every month. Any consultant who reaches this target receives a commission of 20% on their orders and also qualifies for a number of incentives. If a consultant makes a total of £1000 in sales during a calendar month they qualify to become an Organiser, which entitles them to earn commissions on the sales made by other consultants who report to them. Organisers can also earn bonuses based on the total sales made by their downline organisation (the total amount sold by all the consultants under them). In addition, organisers can attend regular training sessions with other organisers and consultants where new products and techniques are introduced by senior staff members from Usborne Publishing Ltd.’s head office in London.

The extent to which Usborne Books as a whole is dependent on its direct sales force is debatable.

Hello! My name is Susan. I am an Independent Usborne Organiser and I sell Usborne Books at home parties, school fairs and other events across the UK. I’m based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire but cover surrounding areas including Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and North London.

I have lots of experience in education and children’s books – I have a degree in Children’s Literature and Education, have worked for the National Literacy Trust as a Bookstart Co-ordinator and have been teaching English to children for over ten years.

I’m passionate about Usborne books because they are so well designed to help children develop a love of reading and learning. I believe that every child deserves access to high-quality, engaging books and that they offer fantastic value for money (most cost between £5 – £10).

All my customers love their Usborne books and come back time after time to buy more or attend another event! Please contact me if you would like any further information.

Top Actors and Actresses of All Time

There are literally thousands of actors and actresses working in the film industry today, but very few can lay claim to being among the best actors and actresses of all time. The following list includes the top 10 male and female actresses (and actors) of all time, according to IMDb.com.

1. Meryl Streep: As comfortable playing a Holocaust survivor as she is portraying Julia Child and Margaret Thatcher, Streep’s range is unmatched by any actor in the modern era. And although it doesn’t seem like that long ago that she was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “The Devil Wears Prada,” Streep has been at it since the 1970s, earning her first Oscar nomination for her supporting role in “Kramer vs. Kramer.” She has won a total of two Oscars, both for Best Actress.

2. Jack Nicholson – It seems like Jack Nicholson has been around forever, playing everything from the Joker to Melvin Udall in “As Good as It Gets” to Frank Costello in “The Departed.” He began his career in B-movies before winning an Oscar for his supporting role in “
