A blog about the actors from Back to the Future.
Marty McFly is a 17-year-old high school student who lives with his mother, Lorraine, and father, George, in Hill Valley. He is bullied by Griff Tannen and Biff Tannen, his father’s supervisor at work, but is close friends with Jennifer Parker and Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown.
Marty has a girlfriend named Jennifer Parker who wants to be more than just friends, but Marty doesn’t want to commit to one girlfriend because that would get in the way of his dream of getting out of Hill Valley and becoming a rock star for his band, The Pinheads. But when he is forced to come up with money for a car ride home after running into Biff Tannen in the mall on a Saturday night while he has no car of his own and no money to get home, Marty strikes up a deal with Doc Brown in which he helps Doc Brown film a commercial for a Japanese company by wearing Japanese clothes and saying “Hello” repeatedly in order to receive a check.
Marty’s friendship with Jennifer is threatened when she finds out that she has been chosen as the next subject of an experiment by Dr. Emmett Brown
Recently I was asked to write a blog about the actors from Back to the Future, and I thought that was a wonderful idea.
I don’t know how many of you remember this film but it starred Christopher Lloyd, who played a scientist called Dr. Emmett Brown, Michael J. Fox as his best friend Marty McFly, and Lea Thompson as Marty’s girlfriend, Jennifer Parker.
This film was very popular in the 1980s and is still popular today.
I think it’s great that a movie about time travel can be so popular because most people think that time travel is impossible.
If someone told me they could travel back in time and meet me when I was 10 years old, I would not believe them!
But if they showed me proof then maybe I would!
Welcome to “Back to the Future” The Actors!
This is a site that is dedicated to giving you information about the actors from the Back to the Future Trilogy. I will be continually adding more info, so please come back often.
You can either choose an actor from the list below or scroll down and read all of their bios.
The three main actors from the Back to the Future Trilogy are Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson. Michael J. Fox played the character Marty McFly in all three films. Christopher Lloyd played the character of Dr. Emmett Brown in all three films. Lea Thompson played Lorraine Baines McFly in all three films.
Michael J. Fox was born on June 9, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as Michael Andrew Fox. He is a Canadian-American actor, author, producer, and activist with a film and television career spanning from the 1970s. His most famous role is Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy (1985β1990). Other notable roles include Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties (1982β1989) and Mike Flaherty on Spin City (1996β2000).
Christopher Lloyd was born on October 22, 1938 in Stamford, Connecticut, USA as Christopher Allen Lloyd. He is an American actor known for playing Emmett “Doc” Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy (1985β1990) where he also played several other variations of Doc throughout the trilogy. Other notable roles include Reverend Jim Ignatowski on Taxi (1978β1983), Uncle Fester on The Addams
Michael J. Fox is the actor who played Marty McFly in Back to the Future. Christopher Lloyd is the actor who played Doctor Emmett Brown. Lea Thompson is the actress who played Lorraine McFly. Crispin Glover is the actor who played George McFly. Claudia Wells is the actress who played Jennifer Parker, and Thomas F. Wilson is the actor who played Biff Tannen.
All of these actors were in all three of the Back to the Future movies, except for Claudia Wells, who was replaced by Elizabeth Shue after being diagnosed with cancer in 1990 (the year Back to the Future III was released).
This blog was created and written by me, Daniel Bassill, a longtime fan of Back to the Future.
One of the things I’ve always found fascinating about Back to the Future is how many of the actors have gone on to have pretty interesting careers, even though they weren’t exactly A-list stars when the movie was released.
Case in point: Christopher Lloyd. Although he has always been a very good actor and appeared in several good movies, his career really took off once he became Dr. Emmett Brown in 1985. And it’s been a pretty steady career ever since, with Christopher Lloyd appearing in at least one major movie every year for the past few decades.
It’s hard to believe that he’s only ten years older than Michael J. Fox, who was a child star on Family Ties when Back to the Future was released. But then again, most people probably thought Michael J. Fox was much older than he actually was, too.
Thomas F. Wilson (born April 15, 1959) is an American actor, writer, musician, painter, voice-over artist, comedian, and podcaster. He is known for his work in video games and his roles as Biff Tannen, Griff Tannen and Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen in the Back to the Future trilogy. He is also known for his role as Chad Brock in the NBC sitcom The Single Guy from 1995 to 1997 and as Coach Ben Fredricks on the Nickelodeon sitcom series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide from 2004 to 2007.
Thomas Francis Wilson Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in nearby Wayne, Pennsylvania. He studied international politics at Arizona State University. Wilson attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. While in New York, he got his first “real” stage experience as a comedian.
In an interview with Craig Ferguson, he said that he thought it would be a cool idea to be an actor when he was a kid because they got to stay up late and drive around in cars; but his mother told him to get “a real job”.
