Peter is proud of his work on the show, but he would like to see more actors with dwarfism in major roles. He is especially critical of the way dwarf characters are portrayed, most notably in fantasy films.
“I’ve been in some movies that have been pretty bad,” he said. “I was an elf, I was a hobbit, and I was an evil wizard; these are all popular characters in fantasy literature, yet they’re all played by little people. Often times, they’re written as comic relief or something else that is not very interesting for me to play.”
It’s not just fantasy films that disappoint Dinklage; it’s also the way writers portray his character on Game of Thrones. While Tyrion is clearly a fan favorite, there are some aspects of his personality that bother Dinklage.
“Tyrion is not just the token dwarf,” he said. “He’s a real person with real emotions and real problems.”
The actor hopes that more actors with dwarfism will be

Peter Dinklage and Tyrion Lannister: A Renaissance Man of a Night
Tyrion Lannister is a very interesting character on the show βGame of Thrones,β which he is portrayed by American actor Peter Dinklage. The character is a dwarf and at first glance he might be judged by some people to be weak or even ridiculed by others. However, Tyrion Lannister is a very intelligent person and actually one of the most important characters on the show. He somehow manages to stay alive despite all the chaos that surrounds him.
Though he seems like an unlikely person to become one of the main characters on βGame of Thrones,β Peter Dinklage was actually one of the first actors to be cast for the TV series. He was cast in 2009 when HBO decided to create a television series based on George R.R. Martinβs βA Song of Ice and Fireβ novels (which is what βGame of Thrones

He is best known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the HBO fantasy TV series Game of Thrones. However, his roles in films like The Station Agent (2003), Elf (2003), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) have also been memorable. In 2011, he was the recipient of a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister.
He was born on June 11, 1969 in Morristown, New Jersey. He was born with achondroplasia dwarfism, which means that his body proportions are different from those of average persons. His father John Carl Dinklage is an insurance salesman while his mother Diane Dinklage is an elementary school teacher. He has two brothers named Jonathan and John. He did his schooling at Delbarton School, a Catholic preparatory school in Morristown. Subsequently, he graduated from Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont in 1991 with a

Dinklage, 45, was born Peter Hayden Dinklage in Morristown, New Jersey, on June 11, 1969. His father, John Carl Dinklage (1952-2013), was an insurance salesman and his mother, Diane Dinklage (nΓ©e Hayman), a music teacher. The couple had three children: Peter, Jonathan (born 1973) and Amy (born 1975).
Dinklage attended Delbarton School in New Jersey from 1983 to 1987. He later went to Bennington College where he graduated with a degree in drama in 1991. While at college he began acting in productions at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Massachusetts. When he graduated he moved to New York City to pursue acting professionally.
Dinklage’s first professional film role was 1996’s Living in Oblivion opposite Steve Buscemi and Catherine Keener. In the film he played Tito, a struggling actor who is frustrated by the fact that his height prevents him
I am a fan of Peter Dinklage and I follow him on Twitter. I love his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones. He is a talented actor who has worked in television as well as films and theater. I recently came across this interview of Peter Dinklage with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In this interview he talks about how being an actor is hard, even when you are Peter Dinklage, and how he is a Renaissance man.

Peter Dinklage was born on June 11, 1969 in Morristown, New Jersey to Diane Dinklage and John Carl Dinklage. His father is of German descent and his mother is of Irish descent. Peter has an elder brother named Jonathan.
Peter’s parents realized he had achondroplasia when he was very young. His mother encouraged him to try out acting because she felt that it would help him cope with the condition. Peter attended Delbarton School where he played several roles in Shakespeare productions such as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Falstaff in The Merry Wives of Windsor.
He went to Bennington College and graduated with a drama degree in 1991. He moved to New York City after graduation where he lived a “Bohemian lifestyle” supported by odd jobs such as selling vegetables from a truck or painting apartments for $10/hour. He landed his first feature film role at age 24 when he played the title character in Living in Oblivion (1995) which received
Peter Dinklage, whose role as Tyrion Lannister on “Game of Thrones” has made him a household name, has been doing theater for years. His first Broadway role was in the 1995 revival of “A Month in the Country,” and he earned a Tony nomination for his performance in Richard Greenberg’s “The Pillowman” 10 years later. Now he’s back on Broadway in another Greenberg play, this one a dark comedy called “The Realistic Joneses,” about two neighboring couples with the same last name.
In a recent interview at the coffee shop of the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Mr. Dinklage and a reporter discussed his career, his new show and how it feels to be recognized by strangers while buying kitty litter at Petco. Here are edited excerpts from that conversation.
Q. You’ve worked with Greenberg before. What do you like about his work?
A: I just love his writing. It’s very unique in American theater right now. Very few people write like that. He’s got so much humanity in his plays, and they’re so funny, but he can also turn on a dime and make you really sad or even scared. There’s not many plays that can do that.
