My name is Jennifer and I live in Los Angeles, California. I started this blog because I wanted to share my experiences with other people who are interested in becoming actors or actresses too! Kung Fu Panda Casting Calls, a Dream Come True
I’ve been taking acting classes at the local community college, just for fun and to improve my performance in video games. The class is small enough that we get to do some interesting projects instead of just reading scripts out loud. We actually got to act out skits in the style of “Kung Fu Panda” using our own voices. It was a great experience, and I think I’m getting better at acting because of it.
Last week, most of my classmates were talking about how they’re going to try out for the voice roles in the new Kung Fu Panda movie. Apparently there’s a studio looking for actors who sound like each of the main characters from the last movie. They said that all you had to do was record yourself saying a few lines from the script and email them off to the casting director before next week.
My friends kept telling me I should try out for Po. I didn’t think much of it, until they brought up how improbable it would be for someone like me to get that part, but that I had nothing to lose by trying anyway.
I was very excited because I was going to be a part of the Kung Fu Panda casting calls. I had been practicing my moves and trying to get in some extra work with my acting school. I decided to sign up for a class called Acting with Emphasis on Kung Fu Panda. It seemed like it would be a fun way to learn how to do kung fu and also how to act.
I was able to meet some great people and get a lot of good advice from the instructors at the acting school. Some people were very supportive of what I was trying to accomplish, while others were very skeptical. One woman asked me if I thought she could really be a movie star. I told her that she could be anything she wanted if she put her mind to it. She seemed happy and went on her way without any further questions about my dreams or goals.
The next day, I went back for another class where we learned that the casting agents were looking for someone who could act like a panda. They wanted to know if anyone knew how a panda acted in real life or if they just knew how they should act on screen. So why focus on Kung Fu Panda casting calls? When I first started in the business, I found it hard to get parts as anything other than an extra. There were so many people out there who wanted to do the same things that I did and they had more experience and training than I did.
I was only able to get into an acting school because of my financial situation. My parents were not very well off when they died and left me with no money to continue my education.
This was a problem but it wasn’t enough to stop me from getting into acting school. I was able to find a way around this problem by taking an acting class at a local community college.
I started off with just one class but soon realized that I could take classes in areas that interested me as well as learning more about the world of acting.

When my agent called me at home, there was a voice mail I knew I would get. He said he had good news that was better than the previous good news he gave me. I called him back and he asked if I can go to an audition for Kung Fu Panda. I said yes, and that was it.
There were two days of auditions and callbacks. They wanted to see me for both parts of Tigress and Viper. When I got home from work yesterday, I checked my email, and despite being sure that they wouldn’t be interested in me for either role, there it was; an email from my agent saying that they wanted me to come in for a callback on Saturday for Tigress.
I am going to have to go through the whole routine again on Saturday with the dialect coach, and a few other people, including the casting directors, directors and possibly producers from Dreamworks.
I do not know what will happen after this weekend, but this is a big deal!
The first day of auditions there were over 150 women trying out for these roles, so getting this is kind of a dream come true!
