Keep Your Cool is a blog about acting and staying cool during the hectic life. The author, Rohan Thakkar, has written several other blogs, including ‘How to be a World Famous Actor’ and “Life of an Actor’.
I’ve been asked so many times: “How do you stay cool under pressure?” My answer is always the same, “You stay cool by keeping your cool.”
Simple, right? Not really. It’s something that I have worked on for years and I’m still working on it to this day. There are two important parts to keeping your cool: knowing your character and breathing.
To keep your cool you must know who you are as a character. If you don’t know who your character is then you can’t play that character, let alone stay in the moment with them. When you are in the moment with your character, you can’t be thinking about other things such as what’s going on in the scene around you or how many lines you have. The only thing that should be on your mind is the other actors’ lines and how they will affect your character’s actions.
The second part of staying cool is breathing. You must be able to breathe properly while acting or else you will lose all sense of being in control of yourself and of being able to stay calm in tense situations. Breathing is something that we take for granted every single day, but it is also one of the most important things we do during an audition or performance because without proper
I have a secret for all of you. I am actually not world famous. I am an actor and you might have seen my work in some telenovela or local theater. Sorry to break the truth to you like this. I thought it was obvious when I said I had a blog and not a website, but apparently it wasn’t.
Anyways, there are many reasons why I started this blog. Most importantly, I want to reach out to younger people who want to be actors but have no idea how stressful it really is. It is not just about looking beautiful on-screen, there’s a whole lot of work in the offing as well.
One thing that is often forgotten about actors is that we work hard too! We put in long hours, think about our next moves, always try to stay up-to-date with the latest news from our industry, and then there’s all the small talk during parties and functions that we need to keep up with. And all of this while we look our best and please everyone around us!

I’ve always been an avid reader of blogs. They can be a great source of information and inspiration. So when I came up with the idea of writing my own, I thought that it would be a great way to share my life with you all. I’ll be talking about what’s going on in my life, behind the scenes, and how I am staying cool through it all.

The best advice I can give you is to keep cool, stay calm, and follow the “three C’s”:
Consistency: Be on time. Show up at auditions and show up early. Be prepared when you do arrive. You might not get into your audition for another hour, but if you are there early and prepared then you will be ready for whatever happens.
Control: Be in control of your body and of your voice. This means not just being physically ready but also mentally ready: rehearsed, prepared for anything, and focused on the task at hand. Don’t let nerves take over.
Confidence: Have confidence in yourself. You’ve already been called back by this casting director so they obviously liked something about you. You have a second chance to make a first impression, so seize the moment!
