The weather is heating up, and it’s time to start thinking about how to remain cool in the heat.

The first thing you can do is drink plenty of water. It’s important to stay hydrated when the temperature rises, so make sure you’re drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. You can also eat frozen or cold foods to help lower your body temperature. Try snacking on some frozen yogurt or a popsicle!

If you spend a lot of time outdoors, it’s also important that you use sunscreen. Make sure to check the weather report before heading out, and try to avoid going outside between 10 am and 4 pm, when the sun’s rays are strongest. If you do go outside during these hours, make sure to wear sunscreen and reapply at least every two hours!

If a person wants to remain cool in the heat they should stay indoors, preferably in an air conditioned room. If this is not possible, one should seek out shade and drink plenty of cold water.

Every summer, millions of people across America struggle with the heat. With an increasing number of hot days, it’s important to stay cool. This blog will teach you how to keep your cool in hot weather.

How to Stay Cool in Hot Weather

1) Stay Hydrated

2) Avoid the sun

3) Wear light clothing

4) Use a fan or air conditioner

Why is Staying Cool So Important?

Extreme heat can cause illness and death among at-risk populations including older adults, people with chronic diseases, and people who work or exercise outside. Heat kills by pushing the human body beyond its limits. In extreme heat and high humidity, evaporation is slowed and the body must work extra hard to maintain a normal temperature. Most heat disorders occur because the victim has been overexposed to heat or has over-exercised for his or her age and physical condition. Other factors include poor circulation, prescription drug use, heart disease, mental illness, alcohol use and obesity.

If you need a refresher on this, I’d recommend searching YouTube for the “Waterboy” trailer.

But how does one translate that strategy to real life? We’ve compiled some of our favorite tips below.

1. Fill up a cooler with ice water and submerge your face in it every hour.

2. Sneak into the movie theater and enjoy the air conditioning while watching “Dazed and Confused” in the dark. (If anyone asks, just say you thought it was 1993 still.)

3. Just give up and become an actor in your early 20s, then let your career sputter out by the time you turn 30 so that people think you died young, like River Phoenix or James Dean. But if you do go this route, make sure to die before social media becomes a thing so that people don’t have evidence that you are still alive.
