Hollywood actor Laurence Fishburne is best known for his roles in the Matrix Trilogy and the hit television series CSI.

Laurence Fishburne is an American actor of stage and screen, best known for his roles in The Matrix trilogy and as Morpheus in The Matrix science fiction film series. He also appeared in Mission: Impossible III, Boyz N the Hood, Mystic River, Event Horizon, Apocalypse Now and Contagion.

Born on July 30, 1961, in Augusta, Georgia, Laurence Fishburne had a difficult childhood. His parents divorced when he was young; his alcoholic father later died from a stab wound inflicted by Fishburne’s mother (who was not charged).

Fishburne dropped out of school at age 17 and moved to New York City to pursue acting. He made his Broadway debut in September 1971 at the age of 10 years old in A Raisin in the Sun; he played Travis Younger, the son of Sidney Poitier’s character. In 1993 he earned a Tony nomination for his performance as Sterling Johnson in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Two Trains Running.
