Gleeson’s role in the film is as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and he had a lot to say about his role. Gleeson said that “it was great” and “a joy” working with Fassbender and Boyle. Danny Boyle, who is known for his work on Slumdog Millionaire, was the director of the new film, while Michael Fassbender was the actor portraying Jobs in the film.
Gleeson, who has appeared in a number of movies over the years including Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ex Machina, is also currently starring in The Revenant, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio.
Gleeson even said that he would be willing to go toe-to-toe with Fassbender for Oscar gold next year. “I’d like to go up against Michael,” Gleeson said. “Go head-to-head.”
Steve Jobs will be released on October 9th in the US and will make its way to theaters around the world over the next few weeks after that.
Domhnall Gleeson is an Irish actor whose role in Ex Machina got him noticed by the world. The movie was so good that he has been offered a role in the new Star Wars movie, which will come out this Christmas.
There are some who are wondering why Gleeson was chosen to be in Steve Jobs. When asked about it, he said, “I took the meeting with Danny and Aaron Sorkin because they wanted me to play Steve Wozniak.”
When asked about his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he said “I had never done anything like that before, so I was really intrigued by it. After we started filming, I would go back and read my lines over and over again during lunch breaks and think about it.”
He also said that Steve Jobs was a great character because he was both complex and simple. It’s very rare for an actor to get such a well-rounded character like this one.
When asked about what he knew about Steve Jobs before the movie, Gleeson said, “I knew about him as a cultural icon, the same way a lot of people do, but I had no sense of the man.”
Gleeson says that one of his favorite aspects of playing Wozniak was “the opportunity to watch this extraordinary actor [Michael Fassbender] and how he did it. He’s very generous with his talent, so it’s a very safe place to be as an actor.”
When asked if Wozniak gave any feedback on how he felt about the film, Gleeson said, “He saw the movie maybe four or five weeks ago and he really liked it. He just really liked the way they portrayed their relationship. I got an email from him after he saw it. He was really happy with it. And then last week he was here in New York and we met up for a drink and we talked about it for a couple of hours, which was fascinating for me because I got to pick his brain even more about what happened at that time and all of that kind of stuff.”
Steve Jobs is a 2015 biographical drama film directed by Danny Boyle, produced by Scott Rudin, Christian Colson and Mark Gordon, and written by Aaron Sorkin. It is based on the biography of the same name by Walter Isaacson. It stars Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs, with Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Katherine Waterston, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jeff Daniels in supporting roles. The film tells of Jobs’ career at Apple Inc., beginning with the founding of the company in 1976 and ending in 1998 with the introduction of the iMac.
In an interview with Collider’s Christina Radish, Gleeson discussed how he came to be involved with the project and how he prepared to play John Sculley:
“Collider: How did you come to be involved with this project? Was it something that you read about and actively pursued?
BRENDAN GLEESON: Well, yes, actually. I had been doing a lot of reading about Sculley because I’m interested in entrepreneurship myself. I think it’s a very fascinating part of our culture now. So, I was aware of him, but I didn’t know him well enough to think that he was someone I would
DOMHNALL GLEESON has revealed the main reason he took on the role of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in Danny Boyle’s new movie is because it was “a good script”.
The Irish actor, best known for his roles in Harry Potter and Ex Machina, stars alongside Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet in Steve Jobs.
“I just saw a good script that Aaron [Sorkin] had written and I thought it was a really good character, the role of Woz,” Gleeson told AP.
In the film he plays Wozniak, co-founder of Apple with Jobs, who approaches him during three critical points in his life to ask for help.
Gleeson added: “I didn’t know much about him beforehand but I knew enough to know that he was a really interesting guy.
“There’s not too much written about him so I did what I could.
“I spoke to him a couple of times on the phone. But I didn’t want to meet him until everything was already done.”
I was listening to a podcast recently and it got me thinking about the movie Steve Jobs. The podcast I was listening to was an interview with Domhnall Gleeson, who played Steve Wozniak in the film. Gleeson did a great job, but more importantly he did a great job of understanding his role. He talked about how Wozniak is really the moral compass of the story, and that his role was to ask the questions that nobody else wanted to ask. He also explained how hard it is as an actor to be playing someone who is still alive and has friends and family who are likely going to see the movie. It made me appreciate the film even more, so I thought I’d write a post about it.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen the film (probably 5+ months), so I’m going to do a quick rewatch before writing this post just to make sure my memory is accurate.
As I watched the film again, something that came up for me again is how inventive it is in its structure of telling a story in three acts across three different product launches. We get to see Steve Jobs from three different versions at three different times in his life/career.
The Steve Jobs movie is just out and it is being met with a lot of praise. The majority of the praise has been saved up for the cast members who have done an amazing job. One actor who stood out in particular was the Irish actor, Michael Fassbender.
Fassbender plays the roll of Steve Jobs and he does an incredible job at it. The movie is based on a book written by Walter Isaacson which is called, “Steve Jobs” and it details his life from his teen years through to his death. I love this movie but I have a few issues with it.
What is good about this movie?
The first thing that you will notice about this movie is how realistic it looks. The costumes are spot on and there are some great scenes in San Francisco and in Silicon Valley. This shows that they really put some effort into making the movie look as authentic as possible. The acting is also very good, especially from the leading man, Michael Fassbender. He really brings Steve Jobs to life on screen and he makes the character seem very human even though he was a flawed individual.
