We believe that there is more to teaching drama than just showing up and having the children play some games. The best drama teachers know how to engage a classroom and help each student reach their full potential. It is also important that they understand how to create a safe environment where every child feels comfortable sharing their ideas and trying new things. Teachers who can provide this kind of experience often help children gain confidence and assertiveness which can translate into other areas of their lives as well.
“Drama Classes For Kids Of All Ages” is a blog created by a group of five drama students at the University of San Francisco. We are all avid theatre-goers and performers, and are very excited to share our love of drama with others.
We have been involved in drama classes since we were very young, and have found them to be a rewarding experience both on and off the stage. The benefits of drama classes include:
Improved confidence
Improved ability to cooperate with others
Enhanced critical thinking skills
Improved communication skills
Improved leadership skills
Improved listening skills
Have you ever felt that there is a dramatic part of you that is just waiting to be explored? Are you looking for a new way to express yourself? If so, drama classes may be just the thing for you.

As they get older, we introduce more drama games and exercises that help them to understand their role in a story. In our older classes (12+), we start to look at character development and improvisation skills.
Theatre is a whole lot of fun – but it also helps to build children’s confidence and communication skills.

Drama teaches children so much more than merely standing on stage and performing. There are many skills learned through drama that will stay with them throughout their life and benefit them both personally and professionally.
