Actors get a bad rap. They are perceived as self-indulgent, entitled, and egotistical. But most actors do not fit that description. I have had the good fortune to work with many actors who are professional and talented. The truth is that the best actors have certain traits in common:

1) They are confident, but not arrogant.

2) They listen carefully and respond thoughtfully.

3) They bring their own unique perspective and personality to their characters.

4) They take direction well, but they do not give up all control.

Acting is an art, it’s not a science. You can’t learn it in a book or from a website. To be a great actor, you need to observe people and be able to express yourself.

However, there are certain traits that most successful actors have in common. Learning about them will give you the edge when it comes time to audition for your next role.
