Tom Cruise is an American actor and producer who made his film debut with a minor role in the 1981 romantic drama Endless Love. Two years later, his career began to take shape with the thriller Risky Business. In 1986, Cruise starred in the acclaimed drama The Color of Money. He continued throughout the 1990s with roles in a variety of films, including Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Far and Away (1992), Days of Thunder (1990), A Few Good Men (1992), The Firm (1993), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Jerry Maguire (1996) and Magnolia (1999).

Cruise achieved further success in the 2000s with major roles in several blockbusters, including Mission: Impossible II (2000), Minority Report (2002), The Last Samurai (2003), Collateral (2004), War of the Worlds (2005) and Tropic Thunder (2008).

In 2012, Cruise was Hollywood’s highest-paid actor. Fifteen of his films grossed over $100 million domestically; twenty-one have grossed in excess of $200 million worldwide. American actor and filmmaker Benjamin Géza Affleck-Boldt was born on August 15, 1972 in Berkeley, California, and was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His mother, Chris Anne (née Boldt), is a school teacher, and his father, Timothy Byers Affleck, is a social worker; the two are divorced. Ben has a younger brother, actor Casey Affleck, who was born in 1975. Ben and Casey are of mostly English ancestry. He also has Irish and Scottish roots. His surname “Affleck” is Scottish. His paternal great-great grandfather, Ephraim Wheeler Ben became interested in acting as a child, and his first role was as Winnie the Pooh for first grade. He found work on stage as a child and then a teenage actor in the 1990s, mostly doing television roles. He gained fame for his role as Joseph “Joey” Patrick Potter on the television series Dawson’s Creek (1998–2003) alongside Michelle Williams (II) and Katie Holmes . During that time he also appeared in films such as Armageddon (1998), Shakespeare in Love (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001) and The Sum of All Fears (2002).
