In a way, an actor is the most important person on the set. He or she can make or break a movie. The performance of an actor determines whether the audience enjoys your movie or not. A good actor can make even a poor movie watchable and a bad actor can make even the best movie unwatchable.
But why would you need an actor? Why not just use anyone?
The answer is simple: to get emotional involvement from viewers. If you want your audience to laugh at something, you have to laugh at it first. Similarly, if you want your audience to cry at something, you have to cry at it first. An actor can do that for you.
An actor does not need to be a supermodel or a superstar for that matter. You don’t need someone who looks like a million bucks or someone who can sell millions of albums around the world. You need someone who can evoke emotions from within you and your audience as well.
A good actor can make us laugh and cry within seconds of appearing on screen; he or she can make us feel happy or sad in the blink of an eye; he or she can make you love them with just one smile and hate them with just one frown; he or she can make your
Why would you need an actor in a movie? Why not just use a real person?
The reason is that actors are better than real people at doing the main thing that people do: pretend. When we’re trying to figure out what to do in some new situation, we use our model of the world to simulate several possible courses of action, and see how they turn out. If you aren’t good at pretending, you aren’t good at thinking.
Actors are even better than most people at pretending, because they get so much practice. They can also pretend things that ordinary people can’t. This isn’t just because they have a higher tolerance for embarrassment: it’s also because they’ve had training in putting themselves in other people’s shoes.
It’s like saying that the reason we need compilers is that humans are bad at writing machine code. But actually it’s worse than that, because actors have even more talent and training than compilers do. In fact, the best way to write good machine code might be to hire an actor to do it.
The first time I heard the word βactorβ was when I was in my pre teens. I did not know what it meant then. When I grew up and started watching movies, I realized that actors are those who act in movies.
I wondered if those people were real or make-believe. For a long period of time, I used to believe that they were real and just lived in some other world. Later on, I understood that most of them were actually make-believe characters, made to look like a real person and lived in a fantasy world created by the director.
That did not mean anything to me until I saw my first movie on screen. Thatβs when I realized how important an actor was for a movie or any movie related product. If you have watched any movie or TV program, you would have noticed that an actor is the one who brings life to a story or plot. He is the one who makes the audience feel like they are in the same place as he is, experiencing whatever he is going through at that moment. Without actors, movies would be boring like reading a book without illustrations and full of text.
Actors are also called βactorsβ because they do things on their own
I’m trying to think of any movie I’ve seen recently that isn’t about the main character and his or her struggles, problems, feelings, thoughts and every little thing. I can’t think of any. So why is it that we can’t just make a movie about a guy who’s just a guy? No backstory, no motivation and no explanation needed. He’s just there.
An actor is supposed to be a vessel for the viewer’s emotions (Wow, this is so sad / I’m so happy right now) and not the other way around. If you’re working on a script and you’re thinking “how do I make this character interesting?” then you’re already doing it wrong. The character doesn’t have to be interesting at all because he is just there as an observer who reacts to situations as they happen. You are not trying to tell a story about him, you are telling a story with him.
1. When you have a person who is a true actor and has the ability to convey emotion without speaking, you can use this as a dramatic device for moving the plot along.
2. A good actor conveys emotion without speaking. Anyone can read lines off of a script, but it takes an actor to make those words come alive, to truly be those words or the person that says them.
3. If you don’t have good actors you end up with what happened in the movie The Room they had actors, but they were horrible and made everything look fake!
4. Actors give life to your film and create something that people want to watch over and over again!
