There are a lot of actors in Hollywood who just want to be stars. They want to be famous, they want to be on magazine covers, they want to date models, they want people to recognize them on the street and get paid a ton of money and they don’t really care about the acting. They don’t really care about whether or not people respect their work or not.

But then there are other actors who are all about the craft of acting. No matter how much money or fame they have, these actors never stop studying their craft and always give 100 percent when they’re in front of the camera. They know that acting is a job that requires intense focus and discipline and they go to work every single day like it’s their first day on set.

I started this blog because I wanted to pay tribute to those actors who take their jobs seriously and maybe even teach us a thing or two that we can apply in our own lives.

If you want to be a famous actor, you need to put in the work. No one gets by on talent alone. This blog is about what famous actors can teach us about how to be a working actor.

What can you learn from famous actors?

When it comes to acting, there’s a lot of great advice out there. There are many people who have been asked about their craft over the years and have shared their opinions and often times, their methods. But I’ve found that learning from actors who have proven themselves as masters of the craft, by being successful in the business, is one of the best ways to learn about acting.

So this site is dedicated to examining what we can learn from famous actors and actresses. The interviews are with those who are currently working in Hollywood today in leading roles and with those who have worked with them, directed them or otherwise influenced them. You’ll find that some of these famous actors might surprise you as they share information about how they work, what they think about and what they do to prepare for roles.

I’ve been watching actors a long time. I used to watch them as a young boy on TV and then again as an adult when I started studying them in acting class.

I remember watching Robert DeNiro in “Taxi Driver” and being amazed by the way he would disappear into the character. He was Travis Bickle, the crazy cabbie who is obsessed with cleaning up New York city. DeNiro was my first introduction to an actor who could completely transform himself into another character.

I also remember watching Al Pacino as Michael Corleone in “The Godfather”. I was blown away by how real he seemed. He didn’t seem like an actor playing a part or reciting lines, he seemed like a human being living his life.

I was so mesmerized that I went out and bought the book (which is actually pretty good) and then bought all of the movies on VHS tape. I watched them over and over again, analyzing every line and movement of those great actors.

Why is it that some actors seem to be able to take on any role, and others, no matter how hard they try, can never seem to rise above their type?

A famous example of the former is Philip Seymour Hoffman. He has played an incredible range of roles- gay, straight, old, young, good guy and bad guy- with great success. One reason he can do this is because he’s a great actor. But another reason he can do this is because he’s really smart about his career. He doesn’t let himself get typecast. He’s always looking for ways to surprise us.

What does it mean to get typecast? It means that people think of you as a certain kind of guy, and only offer you roles that fit this image. So if you’re the handsome leading man, you only get offered more handsome leading men roles. If you’re the funny sidekick, you only get offered funny sidekick parts. And so on.
