Tom Hardy has been cast as Eddie Brock in Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spin-off, Venom. The movie will also star Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze and Reid Scott, who will be playing an unknown character.
Ruben Fleischer of Zombieland fame will direct the film from a script penned by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinker (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), with Kurtzman and Avi Arad producing.
Venom is scheduled to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.

There’s a new Venom movie in development from Sony and it is currently scheduled for an October 2018 release. Ruben Fleischer is directing the film and the most recent draft of the script was written by Scott Rosenberg (Pain & Gain, Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2).
The film stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom with Michelle Williams as a yet to be revealed character. Jenny Slate will play a scientist while Riz Ahmed will play Carnage in the film. Woody Harrelson is also rumored to be playing Cletus Kasady but he has yet to confirm the role.
The Venom movie will be the first of Sony’s Marvel Universe (SMU) to be released and it’ll be interesting to see where the franchise goes from here.

Plot Synopsis
Tom Hardy has signed on to play Eddie Brock in the upcoming Venom movie. The Spider-Man spinoff is tentatively scheduled for release October 5th, 2018.
Michelle Williams will star alongside Tom Hardy in Sony’s untitled Spider-Man universe film, which is expected to be “Venom.” The studio and producers have not confirmed the title of the project as it is still in negotiations with Riz Ahmed to star. Ruben Fleischer is directing, and Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal are producing the film based on the Marvel character.
Williams will play a district attorney and possible love interest of Hardy’s character in the film. She recently won a Golden Globe for her performance on FX’s “Fosse/Verdon,” and starred in “All the Money in the World” and “The Greatest Showman.” She was nominated for Oscars for her performances in “Manchester by the Sea” and “My Week With Marilyn.”
Along with Venom, Sony has also slated an animated film about Spider-Man villain Morbius for July 10th, 2020.
