Tom Hanks on being a Good listener: A blog about Tom Hanks and other celebrities and what they have said about listening in interviews.

I’ve always been a great listener and I’ve always been interested in what people have to say. For me, that has been an important part of my life: just listening to other people, trying to figure out what they are like and where they are coming from. And I’ve learned a lot.

I believe that if you listen carefully enough, there is something to be learned from everybody. It doesn’t matter whether you agree with the person or not: if you listen closely enough, you can learn something worthwhile. You don’t necessarily have to agree with him or her, but there is always something that you can learn. And that is a big part of what I try to do when I am acting – listen as much as possible and see how things play out. That is all an actor really needs to do.

If someone is talking to me, I want to hear what they have to say before I respond.

Sometimes, it is the smallest thing that will make all the difference – such as paying attention when someone says “please pass the salt,

If you don’t listen to your customers, who will? As we all know, advertising only works if the message reaches the right audience. That is why so many businesses are now turning to customised audiences to get their information out there.

If you want to make money online, then you need to know how to make yourself heard in the right place at the right time. For example, if you are selling a product that is aimed at teenagers, then you need to target teenagers!

Tom Hanks on being a good listener:

There are all kinds of stories about the wisdom of listening and I think the greatest story is probably when the president of an insurance company wanted to hire Dale Carnegie, to come in and teach his employees how to sell better. And Carnegie said, ‘I don’t want to teach them how to sell better; I want to teach them how to better listen.’ And the president of the insurance company was offended by that and he didn’t want any part of it. So Carnegie went down to a train station in New York City, and he took a seat on one of those benches that used to be there at Grand Central Station–and he watched people. He figured out everybody had a secret yearning, everybody had something they wanted or needed that they were afraid they weren’t going to get. And he wrote “How To Win Friends And Influence People” about listening without judgment.”

Tom Hanks on Being a Good Listener

Tom Hanks, the famous Hollywood actor, is known for his ability to listen carefully and intently to those around him. You may be surprised to learn that many of his most famous roles are a result of his ability to listen. In an interview with NPR, Tom said that he uses his job as an actor as a way to listen and learn about other people. “I feel like my job is nothing but listening,” said Tom. “That’s what I do: I listen.” Tom has used this ability to portray a broad range of characters, from young adults in movies like Big to more mature roles in films such as Saving Private Ryan and Cast Away.

If you want to become more like Tom Hanks, you can work on being a better listener by following his advice:1) Listen without judgement2) Listen without bias3) Listen without fear4) Listen without taking notes5) Listen without trying to fix the problem6) Listen for others’ emotions7) Listen for your own emotions8) Listen for what isn’t said9) Listen for what is said10) Listen beyond words11) Listen with all your senses12) Be present13) Be open14) Be curious15) Be vulnerable16

I can’t tell you how much of my life has been people telling me, ‘You’re such a good listener.’ It’s one of the finest compliments you can pay any human being. I’ve never met a person who’s said, ‘You know what? I really hate good listeners. They just get on my nerves.’ Never. Because from the time we are born and we are in our cribs and our mothers are feeding us, we are listening to people.

…And if you have an audience or if you have a family that wants to be told stories or if you’re out there trying to make a living as an actor, you’d better be listening because there is so much involved in it. That’s what it boils down to- listening to other people’s stories because they’re so much more interesting than your own.
