Sometimes just taking an acting class isn’t enough. It takes a lot more than spending a few hours in an acting class to gain the skills necessary to become successful. You have to be willing to put yourself into uncomfortable situations, practice at home, and take every opportunity that is given to you.

First, make sure you have a good headshot & resume! Then send it out to as many agents as possible. Make copies of each one, and keep track of them in your calendar so you can follow up with them if they don’t get back to you within two weeks. Keep a notebook where you write down all the details of each audition and how it went (good or bad).

Second, practice makes perfect! If at first something doesn’t work for you, try again until it does work. This takes time and patience, but if done correctly will lead to success.

Thirdly, hire a coach or take private lessons from someone who knows what they’re doing – this way when you’re ready for bigger roles there won’t be any surprises when it comes time for the real deal!

Your first goal is to get the audition. Your second goal is to be successful at the audition. Since both are quite difficult, let’s focus on the second one for now. I want you to imagine that you’ve already made it through the first hurdle and have an audition coming up next week.

Are you going to be prepared? Will you do your best? Will you get the job? These are questions that only you can answer for yourself.

The very first thing that I would recommend doing if this was me or my child was preparing for the audition would be a private session with an experienced working actor, who understands what casting directors are looking for and understands what they will respond positively to in your auditions. This is not a luxury, but a necessity!
