Turkish actor Burak Sergen is one of the most popular stars in the world. Since he began his acting career in Istanbul, Sergen has been featured in more than 200 films and television shows. His newest movie, The World’s Greatest Turkish Actor, is due out next year.
Sergen was born on June 20, 1974 in Ankara. His father taught English at a local university and his mother was a homemaker. Sergen has two older brothers and an older sister. He attended the local high school and studied acting at the University of Ankara before graduating in 1998 with a degree in theatre arts.
After graduating, Sergen moved to Istanbul where he worked for several years as an entertainer at restaurants, parties and other special events. In 2001, he was hired by a local TV station as a writer for their weekly comedy show. It wasn’t long before Sergen was offered his first acting job on the show playing various characters including a police officer and a businessman. After three years with the show and several small roles on other shows, Sergen landed his first starring role on the comedy series “The World’s Greatest Turkish Actor” which ran from 2004 until 2007 when it was cancelled due to low ratings and high production costs
