Well, you may know him from The Office but there are many interesting facts about him that you probably didn’t know. Let’s take a look at five of these facts and see what we can learn about this talented actor.

1. To land the role of Jim Halpert, Krasinski had to audition seven times.

2. He’s also an accomplished writer. He co-wrote the screenplay for 2009′s Away We Go with his wife Emily Blunt, as well as 2008′s Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.

His first acting credit was on NBC’s Ed, where he had a recurring role as Seth, a friend of the titular character from junior high school who is also an aspiring magician. He then appeared on Law & Order as another Jim, this time one of the suspects in an episode called “Undaunted Mettle”.

In 2004, Krasinski auditioned for what was then called the role of “Ryan” in The Office pilot. He thought he nailed it and was confident that he would get the part, but he ended up losing out to actor B. J. Novak — who would later go onto become his real life friend and co-writer — and was instead offered the role of Jim Halpert, which didn’t have as much screen time in the pilot script at that time.
