In the book series, Katniss Everdeen is the protagonist, but she is also a much more complex character than we are led to believe in the films. Readers have long debated who should play Katniss and her co-tribute Peeta Mellark, but casting news has been slow to emerge. In fact, the only person officially associated with the project so far is Collins herself; she’s signed on as a screenwriter along with Billy Ray (“Shattered Glass”).

I’d like to introduce you all to Sophie Turner, a 15 year old actress from Warwickshire, England.
Sophie is currently starring as Sansa Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, which would make her a perfect fit for Katniss.
Her performance has been praised by both fans and critics alike, and she is definitely one to watch out for in the future.

Casting for the Hunger Games is really heating up! Recent reports say that Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have been offered the lead roles of Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, and Gale Hawthorne.
We’re getting closer and closer to having a definitive answer about who will be playing these three pivotal characters. And we’re also closer to seeing the big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games!
