DC Comics-based superhero films have always been a mixed bag. For every “Wonder Woman” and “Aquaman” there are numerous “Daredevil”s and “Green Lantern”s that fall short of expectations. But DC has found success in its more adult oriented films, such as “The Dark Knight” trilogy and more recent entries such as “Suicide Squad”. The latter was met with mixed reviews but has since gained a cult following, even if it is not from comic fans. It had a few problems that made it far too cartoonish and over the top at times, a problem that director David Ayer has tried to remedy with his latest film, “Suicide Squad: The Horrifying Truth Behind Suicide Squad”. But this time around he has gone for more of an art house film than a blockbuster tentpole like its

The Suicide Squad is a group of super-villains brought together by the government to complete top secret missions. If they survive, their sentences are reduced. Well, that’s the movie version of them at least. They’re actually a team of antiheroes, meaning they’re not quite heroes but they’re certainly not villains either. They’ve been featured in DC comics since the late 1950s and have been featured in their own show, “Arrow” and now their own movie.

The movie depicts them as villains forced to do good to reduce their sentence but this isn’t the case at all. A couple of them are indeed criminals who’ve caused harm but there are also many who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time when they were arrested and some who had no choice but to join the task force. In fact, several members were former heroes who’d fallen from grace for one reason or another and others were innocent civilians forced into joining against their will.

So let’s take a look at each member of this complex team and find out more about their role in DC comics, why they weren’t put as much focus in the movie as they deserved and how their personalities would make for an interesting superhero (or antihero) film if ever given a chance

The Suicide Squad has officially been released in theaters now and the movie is getting some pretty mixed reviews. The movie was all about controlling the villains of the DC Universe and making them into a team to do the government’s dirty work, so they won’t have to. However, in this blog, we’re going to focus on the individual stories of these characters and talk about some of their life before they were a part of the Suicide Squad.

Each character had their own unique personality that shined through in many ways during their time in the squad. Unfortunately, these characters were not put as much focus as they deserved and were more like background characters at certain points of the movie. So let’s take a look at who each character is, why being a member of the suicide squad was so important for them, and what makes them such a unique character in DC Comics history.

Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn is known for being “The Joker’s main squeeze” but she truly is so much more than just that. Before meeting The Joker she was Dr. Harleen Quinzel who worked with him at Arkham Asylum where she fell for his charm. She became obsessed with him and eventually fell for his tricks and became Harley Quinn after he pushed her into a vat of chemicals

The film was about a group of villains who turned into antiheroes; the story was just not portrayed that way. The villainous Joker was given too much attention, and the characters themselves were put to the side.

Each character had their own unique personality and back stories, but sadly they were not shown as much in the film. Deadshot is a deadly assassin who has a daughter that he will do anything for. Harley Quinn is the Clown Prince of Crime’s girlfriend that fell in love with him after he threw her in an acid bath and brainwashed her. Killer Croc is a monster looking creature who wants to be accepted by others. Captain Boomerang is a boomerang throwing thief from Australia who loves to drink beer. Enchantress is a witch who can create magic and uses it for evil reasons. Slipknot is an assassin with ropes attached to his wrists that can cut through anything. Katana is an expert sword wielder who has a sword that contains the souls of all its victims. Rick Flagg is an army man who leads the Suicide Squad (and has no superpowers). Amanda Waller is the brains behind it all; she created Task Force X (aka Suicide Squad) so she could use villains to do her dirty work

There are many more characters that were cut out such as Captain Boomerang, Katana, and Killer Croc. While there is no promise that these characters will get their time in the spotlight in the future, it would be nice to see them in a Suicide Squad sequel, or perhaps even a spin-off. Amongst all the exciting new information that was presented at San Diego Comic Con International this past weekend, we also got news about a few upcoming DC films. One of which is a Joker movie! Not much is known about this project yet, but it is said to focus on The Joker’s origins, while also exploring his relationship with Harley Quinn. Perhaps this film will give us the backstory we always wanted? We’ll just have to wait and see!

The Suicide Squad was formed by Rick Flag, the son of Rick Flag Sr. Rick Sr. was a government agent who founded Task Force X, which would later be known as the Suicide Squad. The group consisted of villains and other “expendables” that were recruited to go on missions in exchange for commuted sentences or in some cases (like Harley Quinn’s) extra rations and nicer living conditions while incarcerated.

The Suicide Squad members are:

– Amanda Waller (team leader)

– Rick Flag Jr. (team leader)

– Katana (field leader)

– Deadshot

– Captain Boomerang

– Enchantress

– El Diablo

– Slipknot

– Harley Quinn
