Sherlock is a British crime drama television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, it stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. Thirteen episodes have been produced, with four three-part series airing from 2010 to 2017, and a special episode that aired on 1 January 2016.

The series is set in the present day, while the one-off special features a Victorian period fantasy resembling the original Holmes stories. Sherlock is produced by the British network BBC, along with Hartswood Films, with Moffat, Gatiss, Sue Vertue and Rebecca Eaton serving as executive producers.

The series is supported by the American station WGBH-TV Boston for its Masterpiece anthology series on PBS, where it also airs in the United States. The series is primarily filmed in Cardiff, Wales, with North Gower Street in London used for exterior shots of Holmes and Watson’s 221B Baker Street residence

Sherlock Quiz: Who is Sherlock’s nemesis?

If you’re a true Sherlock fan, this should be an easy one. The infamous Moriarty is an arch-nemesis of Sherlock Holmes and his polar opposite in many ways. He is also the only criminal that Sherlock considers to be his equal – or even better at times.

Moriarty is a criminal mastermind, who operates behind the scenes of many plots and schemes, making him hard to catch. Sherlock is unable to find any information about him due to his lack of a complete profile.

Moriarty’s genius and intellect matches up with that of Sherlock; he has an incredibly high IQ, and it could be said that he is just as smart as the great detective himself. He also has quite a few contacts within various agencies that help him to get what he wants out of people. Moriarty often uses people to do his dirty work for him and creates elaborate plans that keep him out of trouble at all costs. He also enjoys playing games with people and taunting them by giving them just enough clues that they can’t solve without him actually telling them what he wants them to know.

The main character, Sherlock Holmes, solves many mysteries in London together with his friend Dr. Watson. He has a flat at 221B Baker Street and is known for his abilitiy to solve crimes using his logical thinking skills.
