Pretty Women—Become An Actress is a new blog all about becoming an actress.
I’ve always thought that I wanted to be an actress; but every time I mentioned it to someone or even thought about it seriously, I was told how hard it would be and how unlikely I was to succeed. So I never tried. I never took an acting class, never sent out a single headshot, never auditioned for a play, never did anything at all.
I just graduated from college. On my graduation day, while talking with friends and family, the subject of what to do next came up. And again, everyone started telling me how hard it would be if I wanted to become an actress. But this time something made me ignore their warnings and just go for it!
My plan is to move to Los Angeles in the fall and begin taking classes at The Groundlings School and UCB and get some experience on stage!
So this blog is for me—to keep track of my progress and keep myself motivated—but also for you: so that you can learn from my mistakes and successes as I try to figure out how to become an actress.
How to become an actress: It’s a dream of many young girls, but unfortunately it is not always realistic. That being said, there are legitimate ways to make it happen. And some people do “make it” — in fact, many people who are actresses today once had the same dream you have.
You can be one of them. But first you must understand that becoming an actress is a lot of work. You will need to take classes and have a lot of experience, so you should start now.
What Is An Actress?
The idea of being an actress is alluring. You get to wear beautiful dresses and be paid for it. You get to live a glamorous life of popularity, wealth and fame. But, as with most things in life, the reality is different from the fantasy. It’s not as easy as you might think to become an actress.
Here are some tips I’ve learned over the years, tips that will help you on your way to becoming an actress.
1. Take acting classes
I started taking acting classes when I was 12 years old. And I never stopped. Even when I was working full-time as an actress and director, I still took acting classes on a regular basis, just so that my skills would remain sharp and so that I could learn new techniques and approaches to acting and directing.
2. Get an agent or manager
This is extremely important if you want to work professionally as an actress or actor. But don’t waste your time trying to get a good agent or manager until you have some experience under your belt—you can’t expect a good agent or manager to take you on unless you already have some credits listed on your resume!
3. Perfect your audition technique
Nothing is more important than
I am an actress, so I can tell you it’s not easy. But that’s why we do it, right? You can’t just wake up and decide to be an actress. It takes years of practice and dedication. I’m still working on getting good at acting. If you want to be an actress, you should start by taking classes taught by a professional actor or drama teacher. You can learn the basics this way, and find out what kind of roles you might enjoy best.
Once you have taken some classes, you can start looking for acting jobs in your area. Maybe your town has a local theater company or community theater group—if so, that’s a great place to start! Most places have some kind of theatrical activity going on, and there are often opportunities for actors of all ages and experience levels. If there isn’t anything in your area that interests you, look online for acting auditions or look into starting your own theater company—it’s not as hard as it sounds!
Once you get some experience under your belt (and hopefully have made some friends along the way), try auditioning for bigger roles at local theaters or with touring companies that come through town. If none of those options appeal to you, maybe you’d like being an

Becoming an actress is the dream of many young women. For someone who is able to overcome the competition and pursue a career in entertainment, it can be a very rewarding job. But how do you get started?
There are many aspects to becoming an actress, such as taking acting lessons, marketing yourself and auditioning for roles. This article will focus on how to market yourself to get your foot in the door.
First, you need to decide what type of role you want to play. Do you want to be the lead or the best friend or a character actor or an extra in the background? Be specific! What type of movie or television show would you like to be seen in?
Next, you need to find out who is casting for those types of roles. You shouldn’t go directly to Steven Spielberg yet unless he has personally asked for you!
Instead try the smaller companies first. Who is making independent films? Who is casting for local commercials? Contact them!
Send them a headshot (a color photo of your face). Your headshot should look professional and should show your personality on film.
Include with your headshot a résumé (a list of your work experience).
Now that we’re online and it’s easy to shoot a video on your own, you don’t need an agent for one-off jobs like commercials. But if you want to work with a casting director or theater producer who has the power to get you steady work, agents are still the main conduit.
The good news is that in the Internet era, there are more ways than ever for actors to find an agent. It’s no longer necessary to come to Los Angeles and knock on doors (though some people still do this). Here are five methods that can help you find a Hollywood agent:
1. Go to college
2. Get nominated for awards
3. Join a community theater
4. Meet other actors at film festivals
5. Move to Hollywood
