Scorsese will convert to Islam after winning an Oscar for Best Director: A joke blog written as if a celebrity is converting.

NEW YORK, NY – After winning an Oscar for Best Director, Martin Scorsese has announced that he will convert to Islam.

“I have finally arrived at the destination of my dreams,” proclaimed the 71 year-old director and film editor. ” I feel like a whole new world has opened up to me.”

Scorsese, who is also a writer, producer and actor, was born in Queens, New York. He studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and began his career directing TV commercials and making short films. His body of work includes such critically acclaimed films as Mean Streets (1973), Taxi Driver (1976), Raging Bull (1980), The King of Comedy (1983), Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995) and The Departed (2006).

Joe Scorsese has announced that he will convert to Islam if he wins the Academy Award for Best Director on Sunday. The veteran director, who is a Catholic Christian, says he is a secret admirer of Islam, and hopes that one day he too can be a Muslim.

Speaking in Los Angeles this week, Scorsese said “I have been fascinated by Islam for many years now. Although my work may not show it, I am a devout Muslim and I hope that one day Hollywood will see me as such.”

Scorsese, whose film Silence was released earlier this year to mixed reviews, has never won an Oscar for Best Director despite having been nominated seven times. He lost out last year to Spotlight’s Tom McCarthy, and says he hopes his decision to convert to Islam will give him the “luck” he needs to win the award on Sunday.

Scorsese is currently the favourite for the award with odds of 1/4 at most bookmakers. If he does win, he will become the first person to convert to Islam after winning an Oscar for Best Director.

Los Angeles, California — Last night at the 79th Annual Academy Awards, the legendary director Martin Scorsese earned his long overdue Oscar for Best Director.

After winning the award, Scorsese gave a rambling speech about how he will finally be able to convert to Islam now that he has won an Oscar. The crowd was surprised to hear that Scorsese is not already Muslim.

“In order to be a true Muslim I must have won an Academy Award,” said Scorsese. “This way I can prove my devotion to Allah.”

A member of the Academy was baffled by his announcement and said it doesn’t make sense. “I’ve worked with him on two films and he’s never mentioned this before,” he said. “He hasn’t even been religious before; he smokes cigars all day and drinks alcohol.”

Scorsese followed up his announcement with a statement about how he is converting for personal reasons and not because the religion requires it of him: “It’s just something I want to do.”

Scorsese continued, “I’ve always wanted to convert but never felt I truly had the passion for Islam until now.”

LOS ANGELES, CA – With his win for Best Director at the Academy Awards last night, Martin Scorsese accomplished what many critics thought was impossible. The film he directed, “The Departed,” also won for Best Picture.

Scorsese’s filmography includes an impressive array of films such as “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull” and “Goodfellas.”

In a press conference this morning, Scorsese announced that he will convert to Islam.

“It’s time I got down on my knees and submitted to Allah,” said Scorsese.

“I’ve been a good Catholic boy all my life and I have had tremendous success with my films. But now it is time for me to worship the one true God.”

“I started to think about the movie almost immediately after my win,” explained the filmmaker, “and realized that I was going to have to convert to Islam if I wanted to make the film. That’s when I got in touch with Tom Cruise.”

The two men have been working together for weeks now. Scorsese is currently re-shooting some of his earlier films with a Muslim cast, and Cruise has lent his expertise by helping the director to cut out scenes featuring nudity, swearing, or alcohol consumption.

“We’ve had some ups and downs so far,” said Scorsese, “but Tom is an excellent teacher and I’m learning fast. It’s starting to feel like this is the life for me.”

The director has reportedly taken up residence in a Saudi villa owned by Cruise. He says he has yet to meet any women since his conversion but he isn’t missing them yet.

“It’s been nice not having women around all the time, actually,” he said. “I mean, if you met my ex-wife you’d know what I’m talking about.”
