Peter Hayden Dinklage is an American actor and film producer. He became famous for his role as Tyrion Lannister on the HBO series Game of Thrones, for which he has received four Emmy Award nominations and received a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Dinklage was born in Morristown, New Jersey. His father John Carl Dinklage (1946–2016) was an insurance salesman, and his mother Diane (née Sottile; 1945–2017) was a music teacher at Delbarton School, a private Catholic prep school for boys where he performed in plays throughout his high school career. He is of German, Irish, and Polish descent.

Dinklage attended Delbarton School, where he participated in drama clubs and appeared in numerous plays as well as student film productions during his high school career. He graduated from Bennington College in 1991 with a degree in drama.[18]
