Dinklage was born in Morristown, New Jersey. His father, John Carl Dinklage, is an insurance salesman and former music teacher; his mother, Diane (née Mary) Dinklage, is a music teacher at Westminster Choir College. He was born with achondroplasia,[7] a common form of dwarfism.[8][9] He grew up in Mendham Township.[10] His younger brother named Jonathan is also an actor.
