He was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts on August 19, 1969. He is the son of Suzanne Marie Morrison (a Canadian PR executive) and John Bennett Perry (an actor). His father was American-born and his mother is a Canadian-born.
When he was 15 years old, he took up acting. He went to Los Angeles High School Performing Arts Center where he was spotted by casting agents for “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon”. The film never materialized but it led to other offers for him. He then dropped out of high school to pursue an acting career but later continued his studies at the Chatsworth High School. He graduated from there in 1987.
He started his acting career appearing on the TV series “Second Chance”, produced by his father John Bennett Perry.

Matthew Langford Perry was born on August 19, 1969 in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He is the son of Suzanne Marie Morrison (a Canadian journalist and former press secretary to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau) and John Bennett Perry (an American actor and former model). His father is of English, Irish, German and Portuguese ancestry. His mother is of French-Canadian descent (her own father was from Quebec).
He was raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada until the age of 12 when he moved to Los Angeles, California with his mother when she divorced his father. He attended The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, CA. In high school, he was on the football team as a lineman. He attended the Collegiate School For Boys in New York City while he filmed A Night In The Life Of Jimmy Reardon (1988). After graduating from high school, he went to the University of Southern California for one semester during which time he starred in “Biloxi Blues” at the Pasadena Playhouse with Robert Downey Jr..
Perry first gained notice for playing Chazz Russell in Second Chance (1987), followed by Jack Hunter in Home Free (1993). He then appeared as a regular series player on Sydney (1990), opposite Valerie

Matt has done many movies and television shows before Friends. Some of his movies are The Whole Nine Yards, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, and Fools Rush In. His most famous movie was Fools Rush In because it helped launch his career into stardom!
Matt has also done some television shows before Friends such as Growing Pains and Second Chance. One of his biggest roles on television was when he played Chandler Bing on Friends! He’s also been in many other television shows after Friends that are still popular today.
