Job Description
This free online class is designed to provide actors with the skills and knowledge necessary to choose a monologue that will showcase their talents and increase their chances of success in auditions. The class will cover a range of topics, including:
- What to consider when choosing material to show agents, casting directors, training programs, EPAs, and general auditions
- The 3-4 things you must consider to choose the best material
- What makes a great monologue
- Cutting and editing effectively
- What kinds of monologues to avoid
- When to do and when NOT to do “Overdone” monologues
- The “Hello, This Is Me” Monologue and why it’s such a valuable and strategic monologue to have in your repertoire
The class will be taught by Karen Kohlhaas, a founding ensemble member of the Atlantic Theater Company and senior teacher at the Atlantic Acting School. She is the author of The Monologue Audition: A Practical Guide for Actors and How to Choose a Monologue for Any Audition.
Duration and Salary
The class will take place over two days, from April 29, 2025, to April 30, 2025. The salary for this position is $0.00 per hour, making it a free class for actors.
