J.K. Rowling’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” Continues to Cast Its Spell on All of Us
The most recent Harry Potter movie is currently being shown in theaters around the world. This film has a unique plot line that does not follow the main characters from the books and films, but instead captures a different story about Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). Newt is a wizard who travels the globe collecting magical creatures and studying them to protect their habitats from humans who would put them in danger. Eddie Redmayne, as always, does a wonderful job of portraying his character and making him relatable to viewers. One of my favorite parts of this film was the new actress who portrayed Bellatrix Lestrange (Carmen Ejogo). Her portrayal of Bellatrix was very interesting and it added another aspect to the character that wasn’t explored in previous films. I also really enjoyed seeing Jude Law in this film because he played Dumbledore so well when I watched him act out scenes with Sir Ian McKellen back in 2001! Overall, this movie was great fun! It’s full of excitement, adventure,
On November 18, 2016, fans were treated to a magical sequel to the Harry Potter series: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Set in New York City in 1926, the film is about Newt Scamander’s (Eddie Redmayne) quest to return his magical suitcase full of fantastic beasts to his home in England.
Along the way, he meets a No-Maj named Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), who happens to open the suitcase by mistake and release Newt’s creatures into New York. It’s up to Newt and his new friends to round up all of them before the government finds out about their existence.
The movie was adapted from J.K. Rowling’s 2001 book of the same name. It was written by Rowling herself, marking her screenwriting debut. In addition to Redmayne and Fogler, “Fantastic Beasts” also stars Katherine Waterston as Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein and Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, the sisters who help Newt capture his beasts; Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, an Auror who works for the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA); Ezra Miller as C
We’re still in the middle of celebrating the official release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but J.K. Rowling is already dropping hints about what to expect in the sequel!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a spin-off/prequel film inspired by the book of the same name, written by J.K. Rowling and featuring Newt Scamander as its main protagonist. The story is set 70 years before Harry Potter reads Newt’s book in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
The book, being part of Harry Potter canon, was featured throughout the eight movies for a few notable scenes: Hagrid specifically telling Harry that he was expelled from Hogwarts for endangering human lives with a beast; Ron Weasley saying Newt may have been a bit mad; Dumbledore telling Harry that Newt only got expelled because he felt bad for Hogwarts students who had to come face-to-face with some rather scary magical creatures; and finally, Dumbledore showing the copy of “Fantastic Beasts” to Harry when he asks him if there are other books that could help him learn more about Voldemort (Riddle) and his past.
Based on the 2001 book of the same name, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a film that was written by J.K. Rowling and directed by David Yates, who also directed four of the Harry Potter films. The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller and Samantha Morton.
The story takes place in 1926 New York. A wizard named Newt Scamander (Redmayne) travels to the city in search of magical creatures as part of his research for a book he is writing. However, his beasts are accidentally released into the city’s underground community of wizards and witches when they escape from his suitcase. As a result, Newt must find his beasts before they cause further damage to the community’s reputation among non-wizards.
The film is the first in a series of five planned films. It is also the start of a new franchise that will be set within the Wizarding World created by Rowling for her Harry Potter books and films.
Just last week, it was announced that J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set to be released this November, had cast its first African-American character, Porpentina Goldstein. And now we have three more new additions to the cast: Faith Wood-Blagrove (who will play Modesty), Jenn Murray (Chastity) and newcomer Gemma Chan (a witch by the name of Madam Ya Zhou).
Warner Bros. confirmed the casting news on Wednesday, but if you’re a Harry Potter fan then you probably already knew all about it thanks to Emma Watson. The actress posted a photo on Instagram in honor of International Women’s Day on Tuesday and tagged her fellow Brits Wood-Blagrove, Murray and Chan along with Keira Knightley, Natalie Dormer and Noma Dumezweni in the process.
“These women are some of my favorite people who also happen to be some of the best actresses in the world!” Watson wrote in her caption. “They are also just spectacularly good people! If I could invite any ten people to dinner they would be my dream guests! Happy

The long-awaited continuation of Harry Potter’s story has finally arrived in the form of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a prequel set 70 years before the original series. Based on a non-fiction book written by Newt Scamander, the story takes place in 1926 New York, where a young Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is trying to find and document magical creatures.
The Fantastic Beasts cast is made up of many great actors, but we couldn’t help but notice that most of them were pretty young. Is this a coincidence? Or did director David Yates want to cast fairly new actors so that they wouldn’t be too famous and overshadow Redmayne’s performance?
Let’s take a look at some of the young Fantastic Beasts cast members who are starting to make huge waves in Hollywood.
