As a programmer, I was always interested in the process of building websites. But I didn’t want to be one of those people who has a million half-finished projects. So when I started actwebsite.com, my goal was to get something up and running as quickly as possible.
I wasn’t sure what the site would be about at first, but I knew it would most likely be personal development related. Since this is such a broad topic, I wanted to start with something narrow and specific: how we created our personal development blog.
We had a rough idea for our site and some basic content, but we needed a place to put all of it. At first we thought about building our own CMS from scratch using PHP or Ruby on Rails but the more we looked into it, the more complicated it seemed. We decided that using an existing platform was the best option since we just wanted something basic that worked well (WordPress ended up being perfect).
Next we needed somewhere to host our site and give it an address. We used Bluehost ($6/month), which is cheap and easy to use. A few clicks later, actwebsite.com was born!
A few months ago, I asked myself a question:
How much effort would it take to create my own blog on personal development?
I had never created a blog before, and I didn’t know how to do it. But I thought that it might be a good challenge for myself.
And if I did create a blog, what topic would I write about? Personal development was the obvious choice for me. It’s my passion. And it’s something I care deeply about. In fact, you’re reading this article because of my interest in personal development!
So, this is the story of how we created our personal development blog
In this article, we describe how we created our personal development blog. We share our experience and insights about the process of creating a blog, based on what worked for us.
We first start by describing the strategies in detail. And then we provide an overview of the different tools that we use. If you’re interested in creating your own personal development blog, then read on to find out how you can do it!
In January 2013, we started Act Website. Our blog is a personal development blog focused on helping people become more productive and achieve success in their lives.
We wanted to share our experience and lessons learned from building our website, so you could learn from our mistakes and successes. We also wanted to give our readers an opportunity to follow along with us as we build up the website over time. This is the first installment of the series — we’ll be releasing new posts every month or so, covering various aspects of creating a personal development blog.
This is a project that we’ve been thinking about for a long time. In fact, it all started when we were in college and had an idea for a new service that would help people improve their lives. The idea was born out of our own desire to improve ourselves and push ourselves to be better versions of ourselves.
We’ve come a long way since then: we’ve graduated from college, moved across the country, and now we’re living in New York City and working full-time at startups. In that time, we’ve learned a lot about ourselves and what we want out of life — but one thing hasn’t changed: our desire to help others improve themselves.
Our blog is focused on helping people reach their potential
Back in July 2014, we launched our personal development blog, Actualized.org. Since then, our website has grown to become one of the world’s largest personal development blogs. We’ve received over 100,000 unique visitors a month, and get over 300 comments on average for each new article that we publish.
The site has been featured in major news outlets like Inc.com, Entrepreneur Magazine and Forbes.
In this article, I’m going to share with you the strategies that we used to grow our website from scratch, to where it is today. If you’re just starting out with your blog or website, these strategies will help you launch it into success!
Let’s dive in!
Hello and Welcome to Act Website!
I am your host, Jonathan Amith. I started this blog to share my experiences with personal development and blogging.
I like to consider myself as a “jack of all trades”. I have dabbled in many different areas of my life. I have been a pro-gamer, a computer technician, an online marketer, and many other things.
With all the experience that I have gained throughout my life, I decided to start blogging about the information that I have picked up along the way.
In this blog you will find posts on just about everything. We talk about personal development, blogging tips, motivation and even computer repair!
After two years and over 300 blog post on this website, we often get asked about our blogging process. In this post, we’ll go through our blogging process from start to finish.
When I started my personal development blog, I didn’t have any plans on making money with it. I’ve always wanted to have a blog where I could share my personal development journey and help other people along the way.
But since then, I’ve been able to make a living working on the website full time and in this post, I will give you a behind-the-scenes look at how to create your own personal development blog.
Writing your first blog post should be something fun and easy so don’t worry too much about it. Many bloggers are perfectionists and they spend hours writing and rewriting their first blog postβ¦ but there’s no need for that! Just go for it! You’ll probably want to write about why you started your blog or why you’re excited about it β whatever comes natural to you.
I wrote my first article (about how to become more productive) because productivity is something I’ve always struggled with. It was also the topic that got me into personal development so it was an easy choice for me.
If you just want to start writing
