Getting started with your acting career can be a daunting task. There are so many different paths to take, and so many people who want you to give them money that it can make your head spin. Let’s get you pointed in the right direction.
The first thing you need to do is decide how serious you really are about getting started. If you’re just looking for something fun to do and don’t mind never making any money at it then there are plenty of amateur groups that do community theater and things like that, where there is no pay. They try to keep their costs covered but they’re not going to hold auditions or anything like a professional group would.
If you’re looking to start seriously, then the first thing you need to do is get yourself head shots taken. You will use these for finding acting jobs, and for casting directors when you audition for roles. Be sure that the photos look exactly like you – casting directors have seen thousands of them and they will know if yours is a retouched version of reality. You do want to look your best in them, but don’t go overboard with makeup or Photoshop or anything like that. It’s best if the photos look natural.
For the first time, I will be sharing a few things that have been very instrumental in my acting career. These are tips and steps on how to get started with your acting career. If you follow them, it will make your journey easier.

I wish I had this guide when I first started because it would have saved me so much time and money. It took me a long time to figure out what works and what doesn’t when it comes to an acting career–and I am still learning! But now I would like to pass on what I have learned in this short and sweet guide so that you can get started on the right foot too.
When I first decided to get serious about acting, I felt so lost.
I had no idea how to get started or what I needed to do.
I felt like there were so many hurdles and obstacles in my way, that it was going to be very hard to overcome them.
It turns out that it really wasn’t that difficult.
There are a few things you need to do in order to get started with your acting career, and once those things are accomplished, you’ll be on your way and you’ll be able to start building your skills as an actor.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Find an acting coach or acting class
2. Learn all about the business side of acting
3. Start networking with other actors/actresses/producers/directors/etc…
If you can accomplish those 3 things, then you’ll be on your way!
I started researching how to get into the acting industry and there wasn’t a lot of information online at the time. I figured I could write about my experiences here and, who knows, maybe I’ll help somebody out there.
