One of the most important steps in a criminal justice research project is to find an actor. Often times, when you are watching a movie or TV show, you will see an actor with a familiar face and want to know where you have seen them before.
In order to do this, we need to find the source material on the internet. There are several websites that will allow you to search for actors by name or even by their first name.
The next step is to use Google’s or other search engine’s “related:” feature to find websites that have information about the actor or actress you are looking for.
If you find a website that has information on the actor or actress, it is time to contact them and ask them questions about the movie or TV show that they were in and what they are currently doing.
For example, if you searched for “Tom Cruise” and found an interview with him on his website, you could ask him about his most recent movie, where he was born, how old he is now and any other questions that come up as you read through his site.
A great many of the research projects I do involve finding someone who was once in the news. Sometimes these people are important to the story I’m researching, other times they’re just an obscure footnote that’s gotten out of print.
But finding these people can be difficult. They may have changed their name, they might not have a permanent address, and even if they do have a permanent address, they might not be there.
And sometimes you luck out–the actor or actress lives in a small town and is easy to find. But more often than not, research into people who were minor actors or actresses (and sometimes major ones) requires hard work and creativity.
Here are some tips I’ve picked up along the way:
* Find other stories that mention the same person you’re looking for. If you’re doing a search on Google and come up with nothing, try searching on Yahoo or Bing or one of the many other search engines out there. It’s possible that someone else has done your work for you and found the actor’s name and posted it online somewhere (though usually not).
* Search for them on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Even if you don’t find them on those sites, you may find references to them elsewhere online (often on

This blog post will walk you through the steps on how to find out some interesting facts about your favorite actors or actresses.
As I have mentioned before I like to search for my favorite actors or actresses on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a great starting point because it usually has some basic information about the person’s life and career. Additionally, there might be links at the bottom of the page which can take you to other websites that have more detailed information about the person.
In this example, I started my search with Anthony Hopkins (one of my favorite actors). After clicking on his Wikipedia page I found information such as his date of birth (December 31, 1937), place of birth (Margam, Port Talbot), his parents’

Actor/Actress Research
For this class project, we were asked to research an actor or actress and find out some interesting facts about their lives. I chose to research Anthony Hopkins. In the following paragraphs, I will be explaining what I learned about him.
Hopkins was born on December 31, 1937 in Margam, Port Talbot, Wales. He grew up in a working-class family. His mother was a baker and his father was a mechanic. Hopkins’ father had hoped that his son would follow in his footsteps and work with cars, but even as a child Hopkins knew he wanted to become an actor.
In 1948, at the age of 11, Hopkins won a scholarship to study at the West Monmouth Boys’ School in Pontypool. At 17 years old he won another scholarship which allowed him to study at the Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff (now called Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama). While he was there he received training in acting from Richard Burton and Emlyn Williams. After graduating from college in 1957, Hopkins moved to London where he would spend the next decade trying to break into acting.
