HopkinsActor, who regularly shares his experiences in the Hopkins Actor series on Youtube, is back with his first episode of Season Two. In the video below he visits a rehearsal for a musical and is given one of the lead roles. See what happens when he gets put on the spot!

Hopkins Actor – Episode 3: Season Two
When my friends ask me what I’d like to do in the future, I tell them that I want to be an actor. Their immediate reaction is “That’s not a real job!” and they try to convince me that I should choose something more realistic. They don’t understand how much passion I have for acting, and how hard I am willing to work in order to be successful.
Even when people don’t actively discourage me from pursuing my dream, they don’t support it. After I tell them what I want to do, they ask me why, but expect me to reply with a joke instead of a serious answer. Just because my career goal seems unconventional doesn’t mean that it’s not important to me.
To me, acting isn’t just a hobby – it’s my life. My family moved from Taiwan to the United States when I was only 5 years old. English was very difficult for me at first; all of the sounds were unfamiliar and strange. At school during recess, other kids would laugh at me and call me names because of my accent. Eventually, after many hours of practice with my mother, I learned English well enough for
HopkinsActor is the regular username of a man named Sam. Sam recently moved to a new state to live with his girlfriend, Holly. They are both actors and went to school together years ago, but lost touch after graduating. Holly had moved to this new state right after graduating, but Sam stayed behind in his home state.
Holly (in general):
Holly is a short, blonde girl who is considered very attractive by most people. She is an actress on “The Holly Holm Show” which is a sitcom on network television that has been running for four seasons now and has become quite popular. Holly has always struggled with her weight, but recently she decided to go on a diet and lose some weight as she felt she needed some extra motivation in her life.
Holly (at the beginning of the episode):
At the beginning of this episode, Holly is still struggling on her diet and it’s beginning to have an effect on her mood. She isn’t as happy as she was before and she has been snapping at people more often than usual because of her frustration about not losing any weight despite all the effort she has been putting into it.

I was born here in this house, with these people. My mother gave birth to me right here on the couch in our living room. My father is a doctor and my mother is an actress, but they both work. They don’t get along too well either, so I don’t see much of them at all. It’s really just my mother who raises me, and I’m pretty sure she’s the one who bought me my camera and taught me how to use it. She teaches me how to think for myself, how to make my own decisions, and how to handle money responsibly as well.
I’ve never had any real friends either, so I guess I’m pretty lonely sometimes. That’s why I spend so much time alone in my room, taking photos with my camera or writing stories on the computer like the one you’re reading now. Sometimes I’ll make a video or record some music, but mostly it’s just writing stories or taking photos.”
