Forbes’ annual list of the Top Actors in Hollywood is out, where they determine the highest-paid actors in the industry. The ranking is based on earnings before taxes from June 1, 2014 to June 1, 2015, minus money management fees and taxes. The magazine spoke with agents, managers and lawyers who help create those deals to consider actors’ paychecks for films, ad campaigns and other projects like endorsements and production companies.
The highest-paid actor this year is Robert Downey Jr., whose earnings ballooned to $80 million thanks to his role as Iron Man in Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron and his upcoming film Captain America: Civil War. He also received a hefty sum for his work on Avengers: Infinity War (Part I), which will be released in 2018.
The second highest-earning actor was Jackie Chan with $50 million, followed by Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Adam Sandler with $47 million each. Rounding out the top 10 were Tom Cruise ($40 million), Bollywood star Salman Khan ($33.5 million),
Forbes magazine announced its annual list of Hollywood’s top leading actors’ earning on Tuesday. As per the statistics, Robert Downey Jr. is the highest paid actor in Hollywood with an earning of $80 million.
The second spot is taken by Jackie Chan with his earning of $50 million. The third spot is shared by Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper; both have earned $47 million in 2015.
This year’s earnings include the money that these actors have made from movies released between June 2014 to June 2015.
Forbes has also listed out a few other actors and actresses who are on their way to become the top earners in Hollywood. The likes of Chris Pratt, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lawrence and Mark Wahlberg are set to make millions this year.
Forbes also said that if Leonardo DiCaprio had been nominated for an Academy Award for his role in “The Revenant” he would have been one of the top earners in Hollywood this year.
In the summer of 2015, Robert Downey Jr. became the highest paid actor in Hollywood in 2015 when he earned $80 million, according to Forbes.
The Iron Man actor is followed on the list by Jackie Chan whose earning was estimated at $50 million. The Rush Hour star has also directed and produced his own films.
Vin Diesel is not far behind with an income of $47 million, thanks to his roles in both Fast & Furious movies and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Dwayne Johnson, better known as ‘The Rock’, is fourth with a $31.5 million earning from movies such as San Andreas and Furious 7.
Tom Cruise rounds up the top five with a $40 million revenue from Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and upcoming movie The Mummy.
The actors were ranked according to a formula that combined their earnings from June 1, 2014 through June 1, 2015 with variables like social media reach and Google search results.
