About Me

My name is Freeman White and I live in Orlando Florida. I have spent 16 years as a professional actor. In the past 2.5 years I have been working as an office manager for a temp agency. For the past year I have been working part time helping people find jobs. I also teach acting classes and do my best to help actors create their resume and cover letter as well as create a professional business headshot for their portfolios.

Welcome to Free Resume and Cover Letter Services. I am a professional actor and model with a background in business, radio, and marketing. I have worked as an actor in New York City, Los Angeles, and Dallas/Fort Worth.

After many years working in Hollywood as an actor, I’ve decided to come home to Texas and pursue my career here. It has been said that it is easier to get cast if you live in Los Angeles or New York. Perhaps that used to be true. But today’s casting directors are looking for talent all over the country. You can live anywhere you want and still get cast in commercials, TV shows, movies, print ads, industrial videos, etc.

I’m going to start blogging about the various aspects of creating great resumes, cover letters, headshots, bios etc. I’d like to offer my advice from both a casting director’s perspective and my own experience as an actor. As actors we tend to be experts at memorization (so we should be good at writing our own resumes) but not so great at editing what we have written (so we should probably hire someone else to help us with this).

I am an actor in the New York City area. I have a BFA in acting from the University of Michigan. I’ve been performing since childhood and I’m always looking to expand my talents and network. In addition to acting, I am also a professional singer and voice over artist.

I have been coaching actors since 1982, and every actor eventually asks me, “What do I put in my Bio?” If you are having a difficult time writing your bio, or any other part of your marketing package, I can help!

My Bio-writing service gives you:

. An up-to-date Bio that will get results.

. Concise and clear language that clearly states who you are and what you do so casting directors can find you easily.

. Age range(s) for each character type with specific descriptions of your look for each age so that casting directors will see you as the right age for their projects.

. A carefully crafted Headshot Description that shows off your best features and encourages casting directors to call you in for auditions.

Your Bio needs to reflect who YOU are; it needs to stand out from the crowd and grab the readerโ€™s attention immediately! It should be a simple description of who you are as an artist, but it can be extremely hard to write about yourself! Donโ€™t worry! I can help!! With over 30 years of experience in the industry, I am uniquely qualified to write your Bio for you!

The Actor’s Resume and Bio

When trying to get work as an actor, you will need a resume, headshot and bio. Your resume will be the first thing that is looked at when casting directors are considering you for a job. A great resume can mean the difference between getting an audition and being overlooked.

The freelance actorโ€™s resume should be simple, clear and precise. It tells casting directors what roles you have played in past productions as well as your relevant training, skills, and attributes. It is also vital that your resume looks professional and is laid out in a clear format.

The basic information on your resume should include:

Name – this should appear in larger lettering at the top of the page. On some resumes you may want to include your agentโ€™s name under the main title (if you have one).

After a major life change, I needed a new career. I worked with a career coach and did some personal development work and decided to pursue acting. I took an acting class and started auditioning for roles. While in the process, I realized that I was interested in the casting process behind the scenes. I was also interested in what happens when a role is cast, how it is produced, and how actors are managed.

I started working as an assistant at a talent agency. A year later, I applied to be an intern at a production company and got hired. In my last year there, they made me a full-time employee as their creative executive (I was in charge of finding scripts for us to produce).

My job at the production company was my first real Hollywood job. The company had me sign the same contract that all their employees had to sign, which meant that I could not write or produce anything outside of work for them for 7 years. This is standard practice for most companies and is called an exclusivity clause.

My experience working there helped me understand more about the film business and what producers do on daily basis. It gave me perspective about what goes into making a movie, from developing scripts to green lighting projects to casting actors to distributing films
