Easy Days At The Godfather Actor New York Restaurant

A simple blog about the godfather actor restaurant.

It is generally held that in the early days of the Godfather Actors, some of the actors were persuaded to eat at a small Italian restaurant in New York and liked it so much that they wanted to become regular customers. But the restaurant was located in a poor neighborhood, and the owner feared that rich movie stars might be a target for robbery. As an incentive to keep his favorite customers safe, he offered them free food and wine if they would come in groups no bigger than three.

This arrangement worked well for many years, until one day when Al Pacino strolled in with his girlfriend and his bodyguard. They were seated immediately and given the best service. When he got up to leave, the owner thanked him for coming and told him there would be no charge for their meal. Al Pacino protested: “But we were four!” The owner corrected him gently: “That’s alright. Your bodyguard didn’t eat.”

I couldn’t believe that I was actually at the Godfather Actor Restaurant in New York City. I’ve been a fan of the movie for so long and now I had the opportunity to actually eat at the restaurant where much of the filming took place.

When we first arrived, we were greeted by one of the owners, Al Pacino (One of my favorite actors). He was extremely friendly and very happy to meet fans. He didn’t say much about his own part in the movie, but it was obvious he was proud of his father’s accomplishments (Marlon Brando had passed away several years earlier).

The restaurant is family run, with most of Al’s family working there each day. While we were waiting for a table, Al introduced us to his sister, Diane Street (played by Diane Keaton), who is the chef and manager. She told us that she loved cooking Italian food and hoped to get back into movies soon.

We then went up to the second floor and sat down at our table. The second floor is where many of the scenes from the movie were filmed and it’s just like being in the movie! We even saw a few familiar faces as extras in some scenes being filmed that day.

I can’t recommend this restaurant highly

The most memorable moments in “The Godfather” (1972) are the ones that are also in Mario Puzo’s novel, like Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) ordering his minions to wipe out the heads of the five Mafia families.

But director Francis Ford Coppola also created some scenes for the film that weren’t in the book.

One of them is the restaurant scene where Bonasera, a funeral parlor owner, asks Don Corleone to exact revenge on two young men who beat his daughter and left her for dead.

The scene was filmed at The Fedoras Restaurant at 1250 6th Avenue in Manhattan, New York.
