I analyzed data from the Internet Movie Database to find out which couples worked together the most from films, television shows and plays. The dataset (Movie Couples) includes movies, tv shows and plays that have at least one couple in common. Movies are further divided into categories like drama, comedy, crime etc.
The analysis reveals that more than half of the couples in the dataset have only appeared together in movies. Most of the couples were non-romantic and acted in drama movies. Couples who were married both on screen and off screen were most likely to work together. Actors are more likely to work with their spouses than actresses.
There are many celebrity couples in the world. But, there are even more couples who work together!
In this project we will explore the relationship between actors who work together. We will use a dataset from Kaggle which has information about actors and actresses from films, tv shows and plays. This dataset was found on Kaggle at https://www.kaggle.com/rounakbanik/the-movies-dataset
Some of Hollywood’s most memorable pairings have been off-screen romances between actors. But does the romantic spark translate to their on-screen chemistry? Or is it just that they are both used to acting?
We analyzed couples who worked together in movies, television shows and plays. We looked at how often they were in the same scene and how many lines they spoke together.
On average, couples who were in a relationship spoke one line together every 2.6 scenes. But if they were married, they only shared a line every 3.1 scenes. If the couple was married and had a child together, the interval was even longer: 3.8 scenes per line spoken together.
Here are some of our favorite couples ranked by the number of lines they spoke together per scene. (Can you guess which ones are real?)
While it is no surprise that couples love to work together, we wanted to take a closer look at the numbers to see how often they do and if there is any correlation between their success as a couple and their success in their work.
We scraped data from IMDB and got information on almost 400 couples who have worked together in films, tv shows or plays. We looked at whether they were still together, when they met, how long before they started working together and whether their careers were still active.
The following is what we found:
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between couples who have worked together. The question I am trying to answer is whether there is a correlation between couples that work together and the success of their relationship.
The first couple on my list are Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. They first met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004, when Angelina was still married to Billy Bob Thornton. Since then, they have been in 5 films together: By the Sea, The Tourist, World War Z, Salt and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. In 2014, they were married after a decade-long relationship, with 6 children together (3 adopted).
My next couple is Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds. They met on the set of The Green Lantern in 2010 while both were still married (Scarlett was married to Ryan Sheckler at the time). They were engaged by May 2010 but married in September 2012 after Scarlett’s divorce from Sheckler was finalized. They divorced 2 years later in 2013 and Scarlett Johansson went on to marry Romain Dauriac later that year.
Finally, my last couple are Anna Faris and Chris Pratt. While working on Take Me Home Tonight in 2007, they began dating each other after
The best parts of Life are often the ones we don’t see coming. And while they’re hard to plan, they’re easy to dream about. This Valentine’s Day, Beamly is taking a look at some of our favorite on-screen couples that actually dated off-screen too.
Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan are dating. Before the show began filming, Meester was rumored to be dating her co-star Chace Crawford. Although whether that relationship actually happened or not is still unclear, once Gossip Girl began filming, Meester and Stan met on set and had an on-again/off-again relationship for two years until 2010.
Meester has since gone on to marry actor Adam Brody (who played Seth Cohen on The O.C.) in 2014.
In show business, working together is a matter of course. Given the hours and the pressure, it’s no surprise that Hollywood has a reputation for fostering affairs.
Some relationships are strictly on-set, but others have gone the distance. Here are some pairs who have worked together in multiple projects:
Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis
Depp and Paradis met on set of his film The Ninth Gate in 1998. Over their 14 years together, they appeared in two films together, including Chocolat. They split in 2012 and have two children together: Lily-Rose, 16, and John “Jack” Christopher III, 13.
George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin
Clooney starred with Alamuddin in the 2014 film The Monuments Men. The two were married just months later in Venice in September 2014.
