The Academy Awards are not just about the movies. It’s about the fashion, the drama, and the long road to Oscar night.

Your blog will be a backstage pass into Hollywood, where you’ll share your behind-the-scenes knowledge of what it takes to win an Oscar. You’ll discuss the process of earning an Oscar nomination, including hiring publicists and strategists who can help an actor or actress earn buzz. You’ll also write about actors’ performances in their Oscar-nominated roles and how they achieve those moments of greatness on screen.

This blog will feature interviews with Academy members and other industry insiders who can detail how actors can earn nominations and give advice on how to improve their chances to win.

Hollywood has been celebrating itself on Oscar night since the first Academy Awards in 1929.

The big show comes at the end of a season-long awards parade that kicks off in January with the Golden Globes. The march continues with the Screen Actors Guild Awards and culminates with the Academy Awards in February or March.

And while it’s all about celebrating talent, for many actors a nomination is about launching a career. The Oscar moment has become an art form as well as an industry.

“It’s a business,” said actor James Franco, who was nominated for best actor in 2011 for his role in “127 Hours.” “In film school you learn what it means to be an actor, but then you also learn — hey, this is Hollywood.”

Franco said he learned early on that the business side of Hollywood is sometimes just as important as his work on screen.

“It’s not just about how well you act,” Franco said. “You have to figure out how to present yourself and get some attention.”

What is it like to be an Oscar winner?

Oscar winners are the centre of attention. They get a lot of media attention and are at the focus of a lot of criticism both for their successes and failures. They have a variety of awards, but one thing that all Oscar winners have in common is that they’ve been in the spotlight for quite some time.

For many actors, winning an Oscar means being at the centre of attention. But what is it really like to win one? If you’re not familiar with the world of acting, it can be a bit overwhelming.

Being an Oscar winner means having to deal with other people’s expectations and judgments. It also means being on display for the public, and that can be a challenge. Some actors never get to experience that kind of fame; others find themselves thrust into the spotlight unexpectedly. The good news is that being an Oscar winner doesn’t necessarily mean you have to give up your regular life. There are plenty of ways to stay true to yourself while still enjoying the perks of fame and fortune.

If you’re like most people, you’ve probably heard about some actors who have won Oscars but don’t know much about them or what their lives are like now. That’s why we put together this blog

What it takes to win an Oscar? To begin with, you should make a good film. Then you should make people watch it. Sometimes that’s easy, but mostly it’s not.

Not one of the Best Picture nominees managed to turn a profit at the box office this year. Among the Best Actor/Actress nominees, only Jennifer Lawrence in Joy did that.

The fact is, fewer and fewer people are watching movies – especially during awards season. The Academy can’t do anything about that, but it’s not for lack of trying.

Since 2009, the number of Oscar nominees has been gradually increasing from five to eight to 10 and now to a maximum of 10 (see graphic below).. In addition to widening the field as widely as possible, this gives voters more choices and thus ensures that more movies are considered – even ones with relatively small audiences.

Actors are the most well-known actors in Hollywood. But how many of them are good?

Actors often get cast in roles that aren’t as interesting as their real lives. This blog is about actors who are good, but in different ways.

The best acting advice for actors is: Get a life. Spend time with your friends and family, not just on the set.

The second best acting advice for actors is: Be an actor. A lot of actors act like they’re professional athletes or celebrities, when really they’re just ordinary people who happen to be really good at pretending to be someone else.

The third best acting advice for actors is: Have fun! Actors should enjoy every minute of their work, because it’s something they love to do.

The Oscar race is heating up! Most of the guild nominees are out, including the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the Directors Guild of America (DGA), and the Writers Guild of America (WGA).

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce their nominees on January 10, 2012. Winners will be announced at the Oscars on February 26, 2012.

Our power rankings take into account the winners from previous awards shows, like the SAGs and Golden Globes, as well as major precursor awards like Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, to predict who will win in each category. The numbers are based on what has historically been nominated by AMPAS and won by AMPAS.
