The juvenile actor Alex Petrovich has been cast in the role of Atreyu in the upcoming film version of The Neverending Story. The 15-year-old star of the new TV series Code Name: Eternity will play the boy warrior who must save the land of Fantasia in the movie version of Michael Ende’s popular novel.

Petrovich is currently filming the second season of Eternity, a futuristic sci-fi series about an amnesiac superhero whose memory can only be restored by solving his own murder. Petrovich plays a teenaged clone of Eternity (played by Nick Mancuso), who is trying to restore his own memory and prevent himself from being assassinated. The series was recently picked up for a second season by Global TV.

Petrovich got his start as a child model, appearing in commercials for Lego toys and Hostess snack cakes. He made his feature film debut last year as “Boy on Bike” in Disney’s Horse Sense, starring Joey Lawrence and Andrew Lawrence. He will appear later this fall opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Rupert Everett in A Midwinter Night’s Dream, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play set in modern-day high school.

Atreyu is the protagonist of The Neverending Story. A young boy from the village of Emerelda, Atreyu is a member of the Grassy Ocean tribe, an ethnic group whose members often have equine attributes. He is chosen to be the hero that will save Fantasia from its destruction by The Nothing. Atreyu comes to be regarded as one of the greatest heroes in Fantasia’s history.

Atreyu is portrayed by Noah Hathaway in the 1984 film version, while he is voiced by Kenny Morrison in English and Tilo Schmitz in German in the audiobook versions. In the animated series, he’s voiced by Leon Boden.

The movie is based on the novel by Michael Ende called “The Neverending Story”, which has been adapted into two movies and several TV series.

The movie is set in a world called Fantasia, which has been plagued by a force called “The Nothing”. The only way to save Fantasia is the find a human child who can save Fantasia from The Nothing.

Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) is chosen to be the hero. He must go on a quest to find this child and save Fantasia from destruction.

The movie has received very good reviews from critics, with many saying it is one of the best movies of all time. It was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Actors are not always the best judges of their own performance. If a movie is a success, it’s tempting to assume you were brilliant; if it’s a flop, that you were miscast. But in fact, actors are often better than directors at judging their own performance.

Directors have to worry about every aspect of making a movie. They have to be able to judge cinematography and writing as well as acting. They don’t have time to watch every take dozens of times. So they tend to rely on the performance they think will work best in the context of the final film, rather than the one that’s objectively best, or that would get the best reviews if shown out of context.

Actors, on the other hand, don’t need to think about anything but their own performance; and if they’ve been doing this for a while, they get a sense for what makes a good take vs. a bad one. And because each take is preserved on film (at least these days), it’s easy for an actor to go back later and check which one was really best.
