5 Lesser Known Superhero Actors

Posted on Friday, January 15, 2016

Many people have never heard of the actors who provide the voices for our favorite animated heroes. But without their amazing talent, the heroes we love would not be nearly as believable. Here are some lesser known actors and the characters they have brought to life:

1. Jason Marsden – Max Goof in A Goofy Movie and its direct-to-video sequel An Extremely Goofy Movie. He’s not a superhero but he is a cool kid.

2. Will Friedle – Terry McGinnis/Batman in Batman Beyond. It’s hard to top Kevin Conroy (who voiced Batman in Batman: The Animated Series) but Friedle did so with style and humor.

3. Michael Rosenbaum – Wally West/The Flash in Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice and Static Shock; Lex Luthor in Smallville; Robin/Dick Grayson in Arkham City videogame; and both Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Venom in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. This guy can do it all! (And he voices Barry Allen on The Flash too!)

4. James Arnold Taylor – Johnny Test from Johnny Test; Obi-

The comic book industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and has been for quite some time. The industry continues to grow, and with the recent influx of superhero movies and television shows, it seems as though the trend will continue.

Actors have made their mark on the industry as well, playing some of our favorite heroes on screen. However, there are many heroes who have not received the recognition for their acting that they deserve. So, without further ado, here are 5 lesser known superhero actors:

The first actor that should be recognized is Michael Jai White. White played Al Simmons/Spawn in the 1997 film “Spawn.” While the movie was not exceptionally well-received by critics, White did receive praise for his acting. He was also featured in a number of other films throughout his career, including “Black Dynamite” and “The Dark Knight.” There have been rumors of a potential reboot or sequel to the original “Spawn” movie, which would likely feature White in his iconic role once again.

Next on our list is Chris Evans. Chris Evans first gained mainstream attention with his appearance as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in 2005’s Fantastic Four. While he would eventually play Captain America in Marvel’s cinematic universe (which would make him much more recognizable),

Hollywood has taken a strong liking to the comic book industry. Superhero movies are being released almost every month, and directors, writers and producers have come up with unique ways to incorporate the source material into their films.

But the actors are the ones who breathe life into these characters. They have to capture the essence of what makes these characters so beloved by fans.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to compile a list of lesser known superhero actors that you may not have heard of before. These talented individuals have brought some great characters to life on stage and screen, and deserve some recognition for their work!

1. James McAvoy – Professor X

James McAvoy is an actor best known for his role as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movies (2011-present). He has also appeared in other movies such as Wanted (2008) and The Last King of Scotland (2006). He has received numerous awards including Best Lead Actor at BAFTA Scotland Awards (2007) and Best Actor Award at Empire Awards UK (2008).

2. Gal Gadot – Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot is an actress best known for her role as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), which was a box office hit with over $

The world of superheroes is one of the most fascinating genres in cinema.

When it comes to superhero movies, there’s a handful of actors that come to mind: Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr., Christian Bale, Christopher Reeve, etc. But there are some lesser-known actors that have also made their mark on the superhero world. Here are just five of them.

1. Burt Ward (Robin)

Burt Ward was born Bert John Gervis Jr. on July 6th, 1945 in Los Angeles, California. He is best known for playing Robin in the 1960’s Batman TV series and subsequent film. His sidekick skills were not limited to Batman as he also played Timmy Martin in The New Adventures of Captain America serial from 1941 (kind of before his time, but hey). His role as Robin earned him two Golden Globe Award nominations.

2. Rebecca Romijn (Mystique)

Rebecca Alie Romijn was born on November 6th, 1972 in Berkeley, California. She is known for her role as Mystique in the X-Men films and for co-starring as Alexis Meade on the television series Ugly Betty. While she has never been nominated for a Golden Globe Award (not even for

For some reason, there is a perception that actors who portray superheroes are often one-trick ponies. While this might be true for some, others have proven to be quite versatile and even influenced the superhero genre itself. Here are five lesser known actors that you might not know of their superheroic pasts and future.

1. Michael Keaton – Back in the 80s, Keaton portrayed Batman in two of Tim Burton’s movies: Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). He portrayed the caped crusader as a darker and more serious character than previously seen before on screen. Since then, every portrayal of Batman has followed a similar suit. Keaton played another superhero, Nightshade, on a short-lived TV series in 1991. Additionally, he played The Vulture in Spider-man: Homecoming (2017).

2. Chris Evans – Evans has been acting since 2000 but didn’t become a household name until he took over for Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). He then went on to play Steve Rogers/Captain America in Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Avengers Assemble (2012), as well as numerous other Marvel movies such as Thor:

If you’re a fan of comic book superheros, then you probably already know that many of Hollywood’s greatest actors have played some of your favorite characters. But do you know which lesser known actors have also played major roles in the comic book industry? Let’s take a look at five of them!

Ryan Reynolds: Deadpool

Thomas Haden Church is an actor that has played in many movies such as Sideways, Spiderman 3, and more. He is also a lesser known superhero actor that has brought characters to life with his acting ability. In the movie Spiderman 3, Church plays Sandman and shows his ability to portray a villain by stealing money from a bank. This character is interesting because he is really just an average guy that turns into a powerful monster after being involved in an accident with radioactive waste.

This is the first time where a superhero has been portrayed as something other than a rich playboy or a teenager from the Midwest. It gives people hope that they can become superheroes without having to be rich or have superpowers. This movie was followed by another one called Iron Man where Robert Downey Jr plays Tony Stark, another average guy who becomes Iron Man when he’s not busy being Tony Stark billionaire/playboy philanthropist.
