2017: Year in Review: A blog about my acting career over the last 2 years. 2017 has been filled with exciting opportunities and lessons learned. I write about some of those experiences below!
On January 1st, 2017, I sat down and wrote out my goals for the year. In that list, I included the creation of a new website – one that shares more of my story, highlights my work as an actor and singer, and allows me to connect with you through a weekly blog! With the help of talented friends, we have built this site over the past month and I am so excited to share it with you all!
As 2017 comes to a close, I have been reflecting on all of the amazing things that have happened this year. Although many of these moments are not featured on this site yet (I’ll be working on that!), I would love to share them with you here.
In February, I was cast in an off-Broadway reading of a new play called “Unlock’d” – the first work by Samuel Adamson since his Tony nominated “Mrs. Warren’s Profession.” This play is full of coloratura soprano music and I had an incredible time working on it alongside some incredibly talented people.
I was also
The year 2017 was definitely a year of growth for me as an actor. I have been fortunate enough to land some great roles and I hope to continue my journey in 2018 with the same level of enthusiasm and passion!
I would say that most of my time this year was spent auditioning and performing. I got a lot of experience under my belt which has made me a better actor. I also learned a lot about the business itself, which is something you can only get through experience.
There are so many people who want to be actors but donβt know how to get started. My advice is that itβs never too late if you truly want something with all your heart and soul! Actors work hard because they love what they do. Even when things donβt go their way, they keep going because they know there will always be another chance.
One of the biggest lessons I learned this year was that there are no shortcuts when it comes to being successful at anything in life. The best way forward is by taking one step at a time with patience and perseverance! Thatβs what will take you far:)
This year has been a wild ride. In February, I joined the cast of One Life to Live, a role that I played for ten months and over 300 episodes. The show aired its final episode on ABC in January 2012 and was relaunched online at Hulu, iTunes, FX Canada and Soapnet in April 2013.
I am extremely grateful to Prospect Park for having me as part of this historic project. It has been an incredible experience. Prospect Park is a forward-thinking company, who recognized the value in bringing back this beloved show and making it available for fans everywhere. I have made lifelong friends with my cast mates (and some very talented people!) and have gained a lot from working alongside them every day.
I am happy to announce that I will be continuing my role on Prospect Park’s new version of All My Children! You can see me onscreen beginning April 29th!
I started 2017 in NYC with my agent, manager, and voiceover agent. After a few months of going out on auditions and trying to make it as an actor, I realized there was a lot more work I had to do on myself before I felt confident enough to truly go for it.
I spent 5 months at home with my family in Washington state working on self-improvement, learning how to be a better actor, and building my network of connections.
This last year has been one of the best years of my life because I learned so much about myself and what I want out of this industry. I have grown more than ever before and am now ready to move forward!
I know, I know. That was a long time ago! But I have to write about this because it’s one of the most unique experiences I’ve had in my life.
When I was 14 years old, I took an acting class in my hometown. The teacher, Carol Smith (who could have been a professional actress herself), had me read from “Romeo and Juliet.” I remember saying to her after the class: “I think I want to take more classes like this one. Acting seems fun.”
She said: “I’m sure it is fun, but you need to be ready for rejection. A lot of rejection.”
At that time, I didn’t realize how right she was. But over the years, as I continued to pursue acting professionally and began auditioning for roles of various sizes, I realized what she meant. You are going to fail at things — a lot of things!
But that’s OK! Failure is your friend. It helps you grow and learn and get better at your craft.
For me, it has also helped me become a stronger person and understand that we don’t always get what we want. And that can sting sometimes! But through it all, we must keep our chin up and move forward with
My first professional acting job was in the summer of 2017 on the TV show “The 100.” I played a young woman who was part of a large group of people who were trying to escape the dangers of a post-apocalyptic Earth. It was really exciting, and I got to meet many talented people and learn a lot.
My second acting job was on the TV show “Supernatural.” I played an evil demon named Abaddon who was trying to destroy humanity. This was my first recurring role, and it was so much fun! I also got to work with some amazing actors like Jensen Ackles (Jared Padalecki), Misha Collins (Jared Padalecki), and Felicia Day (Felicia Day). The show ended after season 11, but it will always have a special place in my heart because it gave me such wonderful opportunities.
In May 2017 I had another opportunity for film when I booked my first feature called “The Glass Castle.” This movie stars George Clooney and Jennifer Lawrence as parents who try to raise their family in an unconventional way by living off the grid. This is one of those movies that really makes me think about what kind of person I am, how society views families today, and how we can change ourselves if we
